Description of App

Fluent News aggregates made-for-mobile versions of top news sources into a single, intelligently organized, fully customizable mobile newspaper. It allows you to create up to 3 of your own custom sections based on keyword searches. You can also control the content by promoting one news source and disabling one news source. Unlimited custom sections and source filtering is available for a fee. Please see PREMIUM ACCESS below.

Fluent News displays complete articles without load-time delays, text pinching or leaving the application. It’s the fastest, most convenient app for reading news from multiple sources on the iPhone.

FEATURE OVERVIEW

  • Top news sources including: The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, FOX News, CNN, BBC, ESPN, TMZ, TIME, USA Today And dozens more!
  • Intelligent grouping together of similar articles for uncluttered browsing with one-click access to additional coverage on any single story.
  • Easy to save articles or share them via Facebook, Twitter and email.
  • Offline access to news when an Internet connection is not available.
  • Keyword search and the ability to create up to 3 of your own custom sections.
  • Option to disable one news source and promote one news source.

PREMIUM ACCESS

In addition to all of the free features above, you can purchase Premium Access, which allows for unlimited custom sections and unlimited source promotion/filtering. It also suppresses ads from the section article lists. Premium Access is available for $1.99 per month or $2.99 for 3 months.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

We do not recommend downloading Fluent News unless you are on OS 3.0 or higher. Several features in this version are not compatible with earlier operating systems and in some instances the app simply does not work.

We hope you enjoy Fluent News. Please send your feedback and comments to feedback@fluentmobile.com.

Compatibility

This is a universal app, so works natively on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

Accessibility Comments

This is the best news app I've found so far. All the buttons are clearly labeled, the settings and customizable options are intuitive and easy to understand, and I can quickly find the stories I'm interested in. All you need to do is click on a story headline, and you're taken to the full article, which VoiceOver will read flawlessly.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

#1 swiping to next article sometimes exposes blank areas

Submitted by Michael Hudson on 24 January, 2011 - 23:27.

I used to really like this app but once iOs 4.2.X was in place the old technique of swiping to jump from article to article now often yields blank areas which seem best overcome by dragging a finger around the screen until you get around whatever causes the blank area. I wonder if these blank areas are the adds?
Friends who upgraded to anything after 1.7 found the bak button not working with the 2 finger scrub anymore so I've deferred on updating until the publisher addresses this. I've taken a liking to Reuters NewsPro until this product is repaired for VoiceOver.
