Hello from the Team at AppleVis.
We wanted to let you know about a new iOS app that was released last week, and is particularly exciting because it has provided us with the means to create another way to connect VoiceOver users.
The app is called Zello Walkie Talkie, and is a real-time chat application that allows you to communicate instantly with a friend or with a group of people in a channel. It is this last feature that sets Zello apart from most similar apps.
Many public channels already exist on the Zello network to chat about specific areas of interest, and users can freely create their own public or private channels. And that is what we have done, we have created a channel called 'AppleVis' where you can meet and chat with other users of the site. If there is interest, we might also look at arranging scheduled sessions for talking about specific topics. These might include sessions devoted to specific apps, hardware or iOS features.
The app can be downloaded here:
Once you have installed the app and created an account, just double-tap on 'Add' and search for 'AppleVis' in the directory of channels.
The entry for Zello Walkie Talkie in our iOS App Directory, which you might want to read for some usability tips, is here:
Here's a podcast that we have recorded about Zello Walkie Talkie:
And finally, here is the link to the Zello website where you can find more information and where PC users can download a PC client (sorry, there is no client for Mac users):
Whilst we are in your inbox, we thought you might also be interested in knowing that ooTunes Radio has become the latest inductee into our iOS App Hall of Fame.
For the April vote we have decided to mark the launch of the new iOS gaming section in our forum by featuring only games in the vote. All of these games have been recommended by users of the site, and it will be interesting to see which one is the most highly regarded and earns a place in our Hall of Fame.
You can view the full list of nominees and cast your vote here:
Thank you for your continued support.
