Intro

Recently, I was helping someone with their Mac and the question came up, “What is iCloud and what is the cloud?”

This happens to be one of the most common questions I am asked about Apple products, and that’s no coincidence. Although Apple markets its products and services as being seamless and easy to use, they still conjure that image of some mysterious and complicated cloud, something that often tends to confuse people. In this guide, I will attempt to explain…

In this guide, I'll be teaching you how to use Touch ID on your iPhone, if you have never used it.

Why Is This Guide Necessary?

It may seem like people who are reading this guide already are familiar with TOUCH ID and passcode settings, and it may seem like this guide isn't as necessary, since there is a "Getting Started with your First iOS device" link, but I want to help out people who are just starting with an iPhone.

Requirements

As far as I've heard,…

EveryCord is a new screen recorder for iOS 11 that allows you to record your device's screen. You used to have to jailbreak or get some app that allowed access to it, but now that iOS 11 supports screen Recording, it is now in the App Store.

Other than the Recordings button, there is a Settings button which is unlabeled.

Introduction

This article will show you, the reader who uses a Mac with the Voiceover screen reader, exactly why I haven’t jumped ship and fled to Windows 10. I’ll compare the state of accessibility of Windows and Mac as operating systems, features of first-party apps, advancements in first-party screen readers, and the outlook of accessibility at both companies. I will attempt to be objective in this article, so as to present my arguments in a logical and useful way.

The…

I want to share my current knowledge on achieving this. There may be better ways but this is what I know right now and it works! Follow the recipe below. It may not give you great lasagna but it will give you voiceover on any pdf file you want or need to read on your Mac!
1) Use ‘Preview’ to view the pdf document
2) Make sure you have ‘Single Page’ selected on Preview’s ‘View’ drop-down menu – You may also choose – to ‘View Thumbnails’ of the pdf pages
• Single Page…

Since the release of iOS11, one problem a lot of us are having is that the new Siri voices can cause our phone to go silent. Usually, the only way to get speech bak when this happens is to hit that trusty little home button and the lock screen button simultaneously for about eight slow seconds before the phone will be forced to restart. Or, that's how it was until the iPhone 8.

Last night, almost like clockwork, my new iPhone 8 Plus decided that it had been cooperative for far…

First, check to see if the version you want to downgrade to is still being signed. Google should do the trick or else idownloadblog.com always posts when an ios version has stopped being signed. Second, go to ipsw.me and download the version you want to downgrade to and download it. Idownloadblog.com also has a downloads page where you can find ios versions. Third, go to your downloads folder and open the file you just downloaded. It should open in itunes. If not, use open in. Fourth, use…

As I don't know how to create podcasts yet here is a basic guide on how to use and enjoy Traveler's Quest.

First it may be a good idea to contact the developer of this app thanking them for such an accessible app so hopefully it stays that way.

Once you have downloaded and opened the app and followed all the intro messages it is probably a good idea to find settings on the main app screen and flick right on that screen untill you find the map settings. I turned 3d map…

*** I hope others will add comments here.
The goal: to take videos of some partly inaccessible software to send to its developer. The videos would need to be quick clips that only show the problem; not long-winded amateur off-the-cuff recordings that would bore the developer.
The problem: blind with just light perception and no experience of being sighted before. No idea how to do this.
The solution: First, practice with the software, making audio recordings for your own…

I totally admit that this started out to be a selfish venture. just got my first Mac, and I was totally confused by how the items on the site were organized. That and I'm a total PC user, so I got out my trusty text editor and organized a list of what I thought I should listen to in the Podcasts area, organized the way I hoped I should listen. When I was done, I felt guilty, and thought I should share the list here. This is my totally uneducated stab, so please feel free to comment, and…

Starting in iOS 10, a new way exists through the actions rotor to move apps around your various home screens. While the old method is still available, the new way of accomplishing this task seems to be preferred by many. In iOS 11, it then became possible to drag multiple apps at the same time. The below process was written for iOS version 12.1, and if the instructions do not work as outlined below, chances…

Hello again,
I'm back with another a blind legend guide. So lets begin.
The goal of scene 15 is to deflect the archer's poisoned arrows with your blade and fight two monsters.
So lets begin.
Follow Louise till you reach the section where the game plays on auto. Louise will get shot in the leg and then Blake automatically will draw his sword.
In order to block the arrows you will need to swipe in the direction the arrow is coming from. Using your shield…

Hey AppleVis community, Haven't done guides in a while, but back with one based on A Blind Legend. Scene 15 is sometimes a little hard to understand. The goal in scene 15 is to reach the door to the place where they will attempt to help Louise. When it is your turn to play, orient yourself so you are lined up with the chimes. Walk forward at any pace desired, and you will stumble across some monsters. They are a little tricky, so be careful. Then, keep walking, still headed…

I needed to have Windows 7 with JAWS on MacBook Airs. However, Windows 7 is nor supported on newer Macs via Bootcamp. When running VMware Fusion, the Caps Lock key was not passing through as the assigned JAWS key and there were issues with VMware Fusion's built in key mapping feature. Here is a workaround that I developed. Note that this should also work in El Capitan and with NVDA.
  1. Download and install the latest version of Karabiner-Elements.
  2. Start JAWS
  3. Open the…
