Six Ages in Comparison to King of Dragon Pass

Hi everyone,
As a KoDP fan, I've really been looking into Six Ages lately. I was wondering if anyone who has played both of these games finds one better than the other. I know Six Ages has a newly designed map, but as I had no problem with KoDP's map, I don't see that as a reason to buy Six Ages. Are there other enhancements with VoiceOver? Is the game somehow even more intricate? Basically, what am I missing by not not having Six Ages?
Thanks for any opinions.//

#1 It's a different game

Six Ages isn't really an upgrade, it's a new game on the KoDP model. You don't play the Orlanthi, you play the horse people that are sometimes references in KoDP. They have a different culture and like you have to learn the ins and outs of the culture in KoDP, including the gods and legends, you do that with Six Ages. Don't get it if you want more features, there are a few things along those lines but it's not really the draw. It's just a new game in that mode.

#2 Thanks.

Thank you for that information. I'm intrigued by the different culture, especially as how you're playing the enemy of the Orlanthi people in KoDP. From playthroughs I've watched on YouTube, it definitely seems as though Six Ages is a darker world. I didn't play KoDP for months, but every time I pick it up again, I get hooked. It's such a unique premise. I just don't know that I want to spend $10 on a game that's very similar. And yet...lol.

#3 Six Ages is well worth it

As someone who struggled with the map of KODP, I really appreciate not needing to with Six Ages. They came up with a brilliant alternative there. Also, they've gone to even greater lengths to be welcoming for blind players. A lot of the scenes which sighted people see as digital paintings are described for FoiceOver users. Go past the last choice or text and you'll find this descriptive text which only blind people using VoiceOver will know is there. The descriptions are quite detailed. The combat system is enhanced quite a bit. I enjoy the battles much more in Six Ages.

The other thing to keep in mind is that unlike KODP, Six Ages is the first part of a planned six game series taking your clan through six different ages of Glorantha. Anybody who loves KODP does themselves a grave disservice by not grabbing Six Ages.

#4 Thanks, Michael

Thank you for your perspective. I read in your review about the described artwork, and I think that's pretty awesome. I'm intrigued to see what Glorantha was like in this age, which I know is way before KODP. Interesting to know that the combat system has changed, too. I'm probably going to end up getting this. lol.

#5 comparison

I have six ages but haven't tried it much but I like what I have seen. Whoe, are you playing the horse spawn? That is so cool. I love king of dragon pass. I don't think you can compare the games because they are not the same. I didn't know you play horse spawn which seems very interesting; got to try that.

#6 Really recomended

Okay, started. This game is awesome. C love the descriptions. This is a whole other game so this goes on shared first place with kodp on my favourite games list. It's nice.
