submitting an app for an award

How does one submit an app for an award with Apple Vis? I think Voice Dream is an incredible app, especially with so many options for low vision users. It seems like the developer has thought of everything, and he is very open to feedback and suggestions. I am so impressed with it, and I have seen lots of conversations on listservs about visually impaired people using it as their primary reader.

Hello Julie, That is a very good question. Well, what you can do is when the Hall of Fame comes back online. We just had our Annual Golden Apples Award which debunked the Hall of Fame out of the spotlight for several months. So we will very soon put the Hall of Fame back on to the Main Page on the AppleVis website. When this does appear again. At this point you have the option to nominate apps you feel should be in for consideration of being voted on for the Hall of Fame. If that is the only option that we have for you at this time. We also have the AppleVis Editorial Team App Pick of the Month. This however is only voted by the team of what app which we think deserved of being the App of the Month. The Voice Dream was submitted back in December and we have decided to pick the Twitterrific for being the winner for December. So my advice is to wait for the return of our Hall of Fame and then nominate your Voice Dream to be consider of being part of the apps people can then vote on for the next round of the Hall of Fame voting. Hope that answer your question! :)

I wouldn't go so far as to

I wouldn't go so far as to say that he has thought of everything, as the text itself is unreadable with VoiceOver. Also, while I'd love to use this app, because the text is not actually readable in files you load in to the app, I cannot use it with braille. However, as a braille user, I'm very much in the minority here and I realize that most users here use audio. If you wish to submit it to be put in to the Hall of Ffame, once it returns, certainly feel free to do so.

I too have a Braille display.

I don't use it for reading so much as I do for control, but it is nice to be able to go look at a word every once in a while, especially names. Also, if the text is not vissible, this means that you cannot look up how something is spelled with VoiceOver, regardless of having a display. Still, the app does sound neat. I will be downloading the lite version to try out. Thanks, Shersey

Good point, Scott. I like the voice provided, but I guess it doesn't provide as much control as VoiceOver.
