Hi Misty. There is no option to reply to specific posts on AppleVis. As you eluded to, it has not been possiblr for some time.
Instead we have a simple linear comments system.
If wanting to respond to a previous comment, people typically use the subject box to refer to the person or point.

When my Irish temper got the beter of me and i posted in an IOs forum, not a Mac one, I attempted to delete the first comment. When I clicked on the edit link, there was no option for deletion. Is it possible? If it's able to be updated to make it more prominent that would be helpful. If it isn't just tell the idiot where it is. ;)
Up until a month or so ago, there was a delete option that quietly removed your post. Now you have to edit your post, leaving a hollow husk for all to read, or ask the mods to remove it for you.
Sorry about that. My mind must be playing tricks on me. I'm probably confusing this with the option to remove a post that starts a thread. I'm very sure I've done that in the near past.
I believe the moderator, but I could've sworn Old bear's right, I thought there had been even back in the old site days. Personally, though it'd be a ton of work and I get it, I'd much rather have the option to remove an entire comment as what would I have said if I didn't know how to say, hey I messed up, here's the right info down the comment thread? Oh well, site does what site does. Thx for the responses.
Absolutely no problem! With the multitude of websites, apps, and services we all use, it's quite easy to forget or get mixed up about the various options and features available on each platform. Regarding your comment about deleting the first post in a thread, the author does have the ability to do so. Originally, users would need to navigate to the Edit tab to access this option. However, there has been a dedicated tab for deleting a post for quite some time now, making the option more prominent.
Apologies, guys. My original subject should have said “replying to comments”, not “posts”.
So, my question actually involves replying to comments. Will change the main subject momentarily.
Incidentally, this topic has really gone off-course since I first posted it and I had to scroll through a bunch of comments here that were entirely irrelevant to my original inquiry. Could folks please take this superfluous chatter and post it to another thread so that I and others may only see relevant comments? Thank you!

RE: Not an option
Is there a way to get notified if a post you've commented on has new activity?
Notifications
Yes, under the Options heading, just above the start of the Comments section, there is a Subscribe link.

RE: Notifications
Huh, thanks Dave.
How do you delete a comment?

Deletion of Shame
Up until a month or so ago, there was a delete option that quietly removed your post. Now you have to edit your post, leaving a hollow husk for all to read, or ask the mods to remove it for you.
Re: Deletion of Shame
There is no option for people to delete their comments and never has been. You can only edit them.

I do seem to remember that as well
