Not getting AppleVis podcasts

Other Apple Chat
Hello All, I have downcast and love the app. I am not getting the applevis podcasts once again. The last two, regarding location tracking and jailbreaking. When I double tap into my applevis feed, and then double tap on "view more episodes" the last two podcasts that have been done are not there. The last one that shows up is "speaking to your mac" done by alex. Did the feed link change again or what am I doing wrong? -Andrew-

Do you have enough space in iCloud to store more podcasts? You might have ran out of space to download more podcasts.

Andrew, Odd, as I use Downcast myself, and the podcasts are coming through just fine. The feed link hasn’t changed and there’s absolutely no reason why iCloud would be a factor. So, I would be curious to know what you see when you view the Podcast details page in Downcast. Specifically, what it says for Published, Refreshed and Episodes.

Hello David, This is the information you requested: Published, Tuesday, 1:29pm; Refreshed, Today, 8:01pm CST; Episodes, 0, 449 in feed. I am getting all of my other podcasts just fine. Thoughts?? -Andrew-

Andrew, I’ve made a couple of tweaks to the feed since my earlier post. From the details you posted, it looks like your last refresh was before that, so would you please try refreshing again. Thanks.

Hi Andrew, try the following. Double tap on your applevis podcast swipe all the way to the bottom at least until you hear "settings" double tap on this. Once in here try finding the "refresh auto feed" button and make sure its turned on. If its already on then completely ignore this entire post. However, if its off double tap it to turn it on and back out of everything and try refreshing your podcasts again and see if that fixes the problem. I too use this app as my podcast app of choice and I have noticed from time to time I think for me at least a feed becomes deactivated for no apparent reason but a simple fix the one above has always resolved it for me. Once I've insured its turned on for a podcast then I refresh the podcast feed I pritty much get the epsoides from that podcast feed working again. HTH Good Luck

Hello again David and others, I nneed to make one correction to my previous post; my "last refreshed" item was 8:01am CST not 8:01pm CST. No matter, I looked into the settings at the bottom of the appleVis feed as the previous poster suggested and my refresh was already set in the "on" position, so that was not it. I did a refresh and the only thing that changed from the previous three results I gave to you David, was my refresh time. It now sits at 3:30pm. The other two items stayed the same. So, this is what I then did; I deleted the feed inside of downcast and then re-subscribed to the feed and that did it. I don't know how or why, but all the podcasts are current and up to date with what applevis is showing on-line. I had to do this about 6 months ago too, as this same strange thing happened to me. David, any ideas as to why this occurs? All of my other podcasts are updating and downloading when there are new episodes without a problem, I have 23 podcasts I subscribe too, so why this happens is a mystery. AppleVis is the only podcast I have had to do this with in the last six months too. Thoughts?? It might be a setting issue I have, unique to me, but why it then doesn't affect any other podcasts is beyond me. Thoughts?? -Andrew-

Andrew, I’ve been aware for some time that the number of podcasts in our feed made for very slow refreshing, so it is possible that we’re now reaching a tipping point where this is starting to cause timeouts for some people during the refresh. So, I’ve done something which I had been contemplating for some time, which is to limit the number of podcasts in the feed to the 100 most recent. Older podcasts will now only be available directly from the site. It’s perhaps not ideal, but it’s probably why you don’t see many other podcast feeds with nearly 500 episodes (smile)

I have had a similar problem for a long time now and now I'm ready to work on resolving it. The information n podcast details is as follows: published: 6/30/13 , refreshed: today, episodes: 399 399 in feed. I suspect that I have the wrong feed address but I'm not sure when this might have changed if at all. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello, to the poster just above; just delete the feed and re-subscribe; it is the only fix I have found that works. David; thank you for the information, I appreciate it. -Andrew-

Thanks for the tip. Deleting and then resubscribing to the feed did the trick. Now I have lots of catching up to do. Thanks again.
