Hi all,
As you have probably already noticed, I have made a few changes and updates to the site over the past few days.
The first of these is a new area of the site where people can post information about apps that are either on sale at the moment or have gone free. This area is only intended for apps that are either known to be accessible or where there is a good possibility that they will be.
Hopefully this will prove to be a useful addition to the site. Please post any app deals that you are aware of.
When browsing the app deals you will see that each listing has an option to report the deal as expired. Doing so will send an email to me, and I will mark the deal as expired.
A similar feature has been added to items in the App Directory, although in this case it is to report a broken link. Again, this will send me an email, and I shall check and update any links as necessary.
The links to report either a broken link or an expired deal will only be visible to logged-in users.
Another major change is the addition of a usability rating to apps posted to the App Directory. When submitting an app you will now be asked to select a usability description that most closely matches your experience of using the app.
If you have previously submitted apps to the App Directory, it would be great if you could update the entry with your usability rating. Simply browse to any app that you have submitted and click on the edit button that is below the app's name.
I have also added a new feature that should hopefully reduce the likelihood of duplicated entries in the App Directory. When submitting an app the site will now check for existing entries that match the app name that you have entered. Any matches will be shown on the app submission form, enabling you to check for possible duplicates before proceeding.
I've only been able to test these changes with VoiceOver. So, if you experience any accessibility issues with other screen readers, please use the contact form to let me know.

Nice job
page changes
Another new addition
Hi all,
I just wanted to post a quick pointer to a new page on this site.
It's still a work in progress, but is a page where you can use the new Usability Rating to browse apps in the App Directory. Basically, you select a specific Usability Rating, optionally select a category, and then click the 'Apply' button. The page will then load all the apps that match your search criteria.
This page was initially intended for those in the community who work to raise awareness of good practice in accessible app development, but I figured it would have a wider use to others on this site.
One problem is that not all apps have a Usability Rating at the moment. Hopefully this will improve as more people update their original postings to include this new field.
Here is the link to the new page.
