Hi,
With 15.4 coming out this week and the long awaited universal control, I was wondering how it works with voiceover. For any who don't know, universal control allows peripherals such as keyboards and mice to be used between iPad and mac.
As far as I can tell, the 'focus' of the control is controlled by using the mouse pointer, forcing it to the edge of the screen after which it pops out on the next display, IE, your iPad. Trouble is, of course, we don't really use mouse pointers, so I was wondering if there is going to be a keyboard shortcut to jump between devices?

Maybe page left/page right
I believe there are touch commands for page left and page right, in addition to page up and page down. My only other idea is using the touchpad to run the cursor off the edge, but I'm only guessing.
AppleVis
Hope that those in the AppleVis tested this feature to see if is accessible! If they did, we will see a podcast from them. Maybe Thomas?
Any luck?
Has anyone been successful yet? I am currently sitting here trying to see if I can get it working between my iPad Air three and 14 inch MacBook Pro, but no luck so far. It seems like such a useful feature, I'm really hoping we are just overlooking something.
universal control
I try universal control bitwiin my iPad pro and my macbook.
first, use the moucs or trackpad on the macbook dracking to the edg of the trackpad, usually in iPad you get A respons from voice over.
now you can use that keyboard to navigade the ipad using your mac keyboard.
btw sorry for my language.
does universal control
Does universal control work with iphone as well or just with ipad?
iPad only
Universal Control only works between Macs and iPads.
I swear I got this working
I had this working briefly. Can't seem to get it working again.
I believe I opened System Preferences, Displays on my Mac Mini and added a display for my iPad Pro. After doing this, I moved my mouse off the right edge of the screen, then my iPad started announcing the name of each home screen icon as I moved my mouse around. Unfortunately, when I touched my Mac Keyboard, it was still controlling the Mac. I brought the mouse back to the Mac screen and haven't had this level of success since then. But I'm encouraged.
I'm not clear on how I would control another device without moving my mouse to the other device display. I'll look forward to a keyboard shortcut in a future release.
Apple accessibility's response
So, apple got back to me on this. I was asking if it should work and if there was some keyboard switching option we'd have to use through a shortcut. Here is their response:
Hello Ollie,
Thank you for the question. Currently, the pointing device is the only option that our team is aware of for moving focus between devices. We have submitted an enhancement request to include a keyboard command for this workflow.
Sincerely,
Apple Accessibility
So, for now, it's a feature that doesn't quite work yet but good to hear they are working on it on our behalf.
