How do I stop google from giving me a long list of video results at the start of my results page?

macOS and Mac Apps

Um... I've pretty much covered it in the subject line. For some reason, about a month or so ago, google started giving me a long list of video results for search terms before other pages. This is very annoying as I don't really want those. Is this the same for others? Is there any way of fixing this?

All the best

Completely agree that this is annoying but unfortunately I'm not aware of how to fix it or if it even can be fixed/changed.

I don't really use google all that much anymore. Too intrusive four me. However, Have you tried disabling Safari, or search suggestions?
You can disable under preferences in Safari on the Mac. Under Safari in the iOS menu. HTH

It's not a complete solution, but you could use an operator at the end of your search string to limit the results.

For example, the following links will show you the effect of using an operator to exclude YoutUbe:

Wit the operator: skateboard stunts -youtube

Without the operator: skateboard stunts

There will still be links to videos on other sites, but the example searches above show that removing just YouTube makes a big difference.

You could experiment with adding additional operators for other websites.

What other search engines do people use that are actually good? I find Bing annoying, and Google is rapidly getting that way. What I really would like is just a really simple search engine like Google used to be when it first started, for those that remember that time period. Yes, I'm dating myself. Hah.

Hi All,

As always, I find myself the outlier, as I don't actually mind the new layout of Google search results.
Most of my searches don't return the Video Results, but , when they are present and I don't want them, asimple Heading Jump skips straight to Web Search Results.
Since Google made these changes, I also find I get better/more relevant results than ver before by using one of the Search Mode options at the top of the Screen.
The Search Modes seem contextual, and I have found using the Finance and News Modes have returned good results. There is also a Video Search if anyone wants to hack Olivers Mac and ruin His day...
I also like the addition of the Snippet. Many of my more obscure searches end right here...

I either use Firefox, or Duck Duck Go. They are both very easy to use. Very accessible, and concise with relevant search.
