Hi All,
I noticed a change with comment format on AppleVis today. I’m using my iPhone, wondering if others see it, or related to new iOS beta I updated.
In posts, I’d get 50 comments per page. Each comment being numbered, 1,2,3, etc. I now only see title of comment, but not the comment numbers. Are others seeing this? Not home to compare a device not on beta.

If it has been changed.
Hi. I haven't seen it, though I'm on the mac. If it has been changed, I'd personally like it. For me, there's to much verbocity. If it's already spaced by headings, and someone's able to navigate by such an atribute, I would like just hearing the title, not number, then title. I may be an advanced user so this might not work for all. Just my two pennies worth. :)
Comment change
Hi jp,
Yes, I'm also not seeing any numbered comments. I don't think it's an ios update. I haven't updated my phone in a few months now. It's not just the phone. I don't see the numbers on my mac, my phone, and even on my braille note touch. I thought it was just me as well. Not having the comments numbered is throwing me off. Glad to know that I'm not going crazy lol.
Not broken
You know the old saying, if is not broken do not fix it. It is OK the way it is. However I am using new edge and windows 10 and works fine. The only issue I having is when I want to check the new commant it does not open. nuts.
Not seeing the numbers here
As the title says. Personally I think they should come back. I often use the comment numbers if I'm writing a reply in a large thread to indicate what I'm replying to, because even though every comment has a reply link next to it, it doesn't seem to provide any markup for a screen reader to indicate that a post is in response to another one. (Edit): The comments also just appear at the bottom of the thread, even if they're a reply which is not how it usually works on sites like reddit or comments on wordpress. I wrote this by pressing reply on Comment 2, but you probably wouldn't know this from the page as there were 2 more comments after it.
So I would either bring the numbers back, or make the reply link do something useful, IE put the comments in a list and then nest any replies to a post in a sublist so that you can figure out where you are in a large thread better
Thanks!
Thanks for the responses. Glad I’m not losing it.
The numbers help to find location on page. Like Piotr, I also use numbers to reply to a comment. I hope they reconsider this change.
Removed for now
Comment numbering has been removed for now so that I can address some under-the-hood issues with this functionality and also do some groundwork for some upcoming updates to the site in the coming months.
This is a feature that I know is popular (and one I like myself), so rest assured that I will reinstate it if possible once all of the updating is completed. .
Thanks David
Thanks for the clarification David. Wasn’t sure if it was issue related to new beta, site maintenance. It was a jarring change which was quite obvious. Look forward to your updates.
Notification
It would had been nice if we were told of changes instead of making some of us be concern about our mind.
I also miss the comment numbers.
So, I hope the comment numbers return soon. And I agree with the last comment that a notification of the intentional change and the reason for it would have been appreciated.
Agreed
I'm glad this is hopefully coming back, because you could mention specific comments with ease, for example, @#2, @#5, etc. Hopefully it's back soon.
I Don't Have a Preference...
Hi. Figured I'd stop by and throw in my 2 cents worth, since a lot of you have done the same. I don't have a preference either way, and in fact thank you David and the other team members for all your hard work over the years. The numbered comments are nice, and that is also a feature on my personal site for logged in users. But either way works for me. Whatever happens happens, so long as this site remains accessible for everyone and I think I can safely say that this has been the case. At least for me it's definitely been true on my Mac and iPhone. Long live AppleVis!
