Let me guess: another bug no one else can probably reproduce, right?

iOS & iPadOS

iOS 13.6, try typing something into an edit field, then back spacing one character at a time. On my end, though the back space works, I keep hearing the same bwonk sound you hear when you reach the end of a screen, then try flicking right again. Every character that gets deleted one by one, I hear this. This absolutely didn't happen in iOS 13.5, and I assure you on my other devices enrolled in betas, it never happened either on the iOS 13.6 private nor public betas, and it's not happening on the 14 beta either. Again, let me guess, what else is new, none of you probably can reproduce. You just watch this thread develop with others who can't. I already see it coming. It's always me with the bugs. Always me that resets the device, me that does every trouble shooting step under the sun, even contacts Apple, yet nothing ever is resolved. I'm frankly sick of it!

I'm experiencing this bug on my iPhone SE running iOS 13.6, and judging by reports in the comments section of our iOS and iPadOS 13.6 release post this issue appears to be rather widespread.

Hi Chris. I’m really sorry to hear that you’re having this problem. I posted a little while ago about this, advising people not to update their devices to iOS 13.6. I definitely know how you feel about always being the one to get the bugs because I am the same. I did try to Report it to Apple via the Feedback app of the developer beta. But I didn’t manage to get anywhere with it. Unfortunately, the only way to fix it is to downgrade. There isn’t really a workaround. Either that, or you may just have to deal with the problem until the next update is available.

Wow! Someone who actually for once can reproduce! Wow! Ain't that nice for once! I'm just sow'w'w'w! dang excited! Never mind my huge sarcasm. Anyway, in all seriousness, all smart ass remarks aside, I'd be curious if you saw my post from the other day about the issue with Messages that I'm having in both 13.6, and in beta 14 as well. Hardly anyone can reproduce. I'm just honestly becoming more fed up day by day with Apple and their bugs, and lame excuses to fix things, then never do! Anyway, if you didn't see that post, I'd be curious if you specifically, Country Music Fan, can reproduce. Let me know if you can't find that other post, and I'll post a link to it in this thread.

Tyler, thank you for your post. I'll go have a look at that other link you provided. I don't know if I even could! downgrade now, not even with an IPFW. They've probably, knowing their stupidity, stopped digitally signing and certifying 13.5. They usually do that almost immediately after sending out updates, so it wouldn't surprise me. If they've done that, then, I'm F***ed.

I know this is kind of unrelated, but I have noticed the same bug only on the latest version of MacOS Catalina on my 2020 MacBook Pro. I'm not sure if I've consistently experienced this issue on iOS devices yet but I tried right after reading this thread and it doesn't appear when typing comments on the AppleVis website.

When I delete a word from message I hear a sound and VO saying the letter. The sound is a pain. I had not done emails so I do not know.

Submitted by Khushi on Tuesday, July 21, 2020

you guessed it wrong.
because, when applevis did a blog post telling us 13.6 has been released, many people including myself reported/commented that we can delete the word or whatever we are deleting but the boundary-reached sound kept playing.
I'm not fed up by apple for this.. but certainly this is an annoyance.. the sound irritates me.
and I should note here that this is a system-wide bug.. on any text field at least for me.
have a good day :)

Frankly, it seems like every one of your posts is filled with this condescending whiny attitude, and maybe this is why people don’t want to help. If you know what kind of response you’re going to get here based on the way you post, perhaps just take it up with Apple accessibility, or drop Apple altogether, like I believe you were going to do if some other bug wasn’t resolved. And no, I don’t see this bug, for the record.

While I’ve Only used IOS 14 betas 1 and 2 for a short time, I think I know which bug you’re referring to in the messages app. In saying that though, I haven’t yet seen your post but if you can post the link to it I will most definitely have a look

Not getting it here. Deleting characters works just as it always has. Weird that some people are seeing this and others aren't.

It’s no surprise that developers don’t want to deal with the disability community. Whiny people and their demands.
Leave the platform already. If Android will be better for you. I left Mac, easy as that.
I rarely come to this site anymore. Instead of getting informative info... it’s just bitching!!

One way to fix this is turn the sound off. If you are as an advanced user as you say you are, why do you need them on?

First, I said I was tired. I never said I was angry. Play samantics as much as you desire, but I'm not angry. I really wish people would stick to the damn topic at hand rather than trying to annalyze my emotions. You're not a shrink/doctor, so stop it already!

Though you do have a point, that isn't the over all point. The over all point is, it's a bug, whether you like it or not.

First, I've said it once, and I'll say it again. If you don't like my attitude, don't read my posts. It's that simple. You're waisting your time trying to respond, and get me roused up. It ain't gonna work. You don't intemidate me in the least. What I initially said was, I was tired of Apple and their crap not fixing bugs. That part you are correct on. However, I never said I was switching away from Apple. What I said was, due to my job, and due to contract restraints, I couldn't completely drop them right now and move to another device type such as Android or whatever I choose. Further, can you explain this to me? How come if my attitude is so shitty, have I gotten over 300 followers on Twitter since I started voicing my opinion up here. Also, why have none of the Applevis admins kicked me off the site for my comments. Thirdly, Why have I gained about 50 more friends in the last week alone on Facebook because of things seen up here, and people wanting my help? In fact, going back to the Applevis Admins, I've even had a few write me privately, and say though they may not have been quite as strong spoken as I was up here, admittedly, they agreed with everything I have said on various posts. So, not only do I seem to have people behind me supporting me outside this community, I also seem to have a lot within as well, including a few site administrators. So, if my content is really that horrible, then I guess you're insulting the A V admins for allowing it, huh. Think about it! Finally, you mention about me blocking Apple. What the heck good would that do? Where would that get me? Further, that would only increase bugs, as the more people who block them, if you even could, and shun away from them, the more people who won't report bugs. And the more who don't report bugs, the more fragmented Apple products will become over time. Is that really what you want? I'm just trying to be realistic with you here. Look. Maybe I can be a major attitude whiner at times, I'll grantcha that, but, you gotta admit, whether you want to or not, maybe I have some invalid points here, but I probably also have a few you can't fully ignore, like it or not. Now, please for the love of god, calm down for gosh sake! No one said you had to like me nor read my posts. Move on, if you don't want to read my contributions; is it really that hard to grasp that concept? Geez!

There are people out there who still really appreciate my help. Not only this, but with my job, I don't have a choice but to be informed on all platforms, regardless if I like them or not. Applevis is just another resource I have in my toolkit, sota speak. If you don't like my posts, then move on. There're more fish in the sea, if you will.

Chris if you left the site I would be petitioning to have you back. You write with a great deal of flare and panache and whether or not you intend your posts to be an entertaining read, they are. So much more interesting than the posts which begin with the standard disclaimer: 'okay, guys, this is only my opinion' etc. which does no more than demonstrate that one's special subject is the bleedin' obvious, like Sibyl Fawlty. I'm sure your homilies in your outreach ministry are similarly punchy, although clearly not along the same lines as something like, say, St John Henry Newman's Second Spring sermon. Finally, your posts are actually rather helpful. Keep it going!

Now, back to the topic: when I press the delete key I can confirm that my iPhone SE2020 running 13.6 beats the drum, although it also deletes the character I'm trying to delete. If you use Braille screen input you will find that no sound is played when you delete charactres or words (at least, that's what's happening for me). As a user of BSI an awful lot, I put this bug down as more of an eccentricity than a bug, but Apple has no facility for reporting eccentricities.

Here's another bug, however, and this definitely I would put on the bug side of the line: the Voiceover volume still can't be changed in the Rotor. I wrote about this a while back and even though I was as clear as Chris is about what I was experiencing i.e. indicating that my problem was that I couldn't reduce, rather than increase, the Voiceover volume, I got a lot of tips about how to make Voiceover louder. So to reiterate, Voiceover volume remains at 100% even if you turn the rotor setting down to 1%. True, I'd rather have it too loud than too quiet as I can always turn it down using the hardware volume buttons, but that ain't the point. It's still a bug.

Right, back to work....

Good morning, Bingo, or afternoon/evening depending where you are in the world... forgive me...

Thank you for your kind words at the beginning of your message. I assume that you meant them with no sarcasm. Your tone indicates absolutely none, but rather sincerity. i'm admittedly humbled by your response, and probably am not worthy of it. But then again, none of us are worthy, as we all are imperfect. But, anyway, enough of that.

You're welcome to check out my ministry if you'd like. Not a lot of content there quite yet, but that'll be changing very very soon. That's all I can say. I don't want to spam this community with unsolicited content, so I'm only gonna post this link once for now, then let it be. I'm not the type to push this down anyone's throat.

Anyway, again, to get back on topic, thank you again for your contribution. I do give it merrit, and appreciate your response.

God bless.

Hahahaha i agree with you
Kris is a bit blunt mostly but this makes me laugh, never irritates me.
In fact, i like to read the debates on his forum topics🙂😂😂😂

Have I ever laughed directly at any of your posts, or comments up here? No. I've not. So, what do you suppose is going to come good out of you laughing at mine? Exactly. Nothing. I rest my case.

I for one think that what Chris, brings to applevis; is very helpful. If you would all take a look at what Christ brings to the site I can tell you he definitly knows what he is talking about.

Hey Chris, I remember a while back you posted about needing help with GarageBand, do you still want someone to work one on one with you? I'm more than willing to set up a time to meet with you if you would like. I've been using GarageBand and Logic for about 10 years now, and would be happy to help you with whatever you need. Feel free to PM me on here or just reply to this post and let me know.

Let's try to keep this post OT, however, yes, Zachery, if you could e-mail me privately, I would like to maybe set something up. With the pandemic, I've been slow with work lately, so, really don't have any money to pay you right now for training, I'll just be very up front with you, but if you're willing to work something out, then I'm willing. You can e-mail me at: clgilland07 at gmail dot com.

Note, to prevent spam bots, I have purposefully misformatted that e-mail address, but if you look at it character by character, it should make sense.

um.. I think you should give my comment a second read.
I did not mean it in the way you took it. I have not laughed at your posts.. what I meant was basically what the previous poster.. to whom I replied meant. to not leave the site. obviously I will not encourage anyone to leave this website, will I?

I won't comment here now.. just wanted to clarify that I meant it in a *good way *
and my apologies if it seemed as if I was laughing at you or ridiculing you.. I clearly did not mean it in the way you possibly took it.

have a good day.

I'm determined to keep it in the public consciousness. Anyone else still afflicted with this affliction?

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Thursday, July 23, 2020

Exactly. Chris is just a trol, ignore him. Yes, I'm calling you out, in public, like i've wanted to do for years. , and I no longer care. I can by the way reproduce the bug, but it actually does not boether me as I know a character or word has ben deleted. And it is kind of an end of boundry sound anyway as, well, I can't really explain my logic. But I also did not repor tthis as I think this is a feature. If not I'll be ashamed when it's gone. I've ben seeing this since about the beta of ios 13.5.x as well.

Same goes here. If I took your comment out of context, then I also further apologize. It just kind of came across that those saying I was a pest, sota speak, maybe not in those exact words, but... that you were laughing/agreeing. I did go back and read again. My apology.
