Screen recording

App Developer

Hello friends,
I am facing a strange issue with my iphone and need some help,
I am using ios 11.2.1 running on iphone 7.
I attempted screen recording jusst to see it's capabilities,
What happened was that my voice came out from the phone speakers but voiceover came out from the earpiece speakers,
In my opinion, shouldn't both my voice and the voiceover voice come out from the iphone speakers?
If we doing a recording for app developers, i believe both voices should come from the iphone speakers and not the ear piece speakers,
Could anybody assist me in resolving this issue.
Any help is warmly welcomed.
Sincerely,
Arvind

#1 no issue

I tried the feature and both the VO sound and my own sound came out from the phone speaker. make sure you turn on the microphone.

#2 It's turned on

App Developer

Hello again,
The microphone is turned on,
Any troubleshooting ideas,
Arvind

#3 What app

What app are you usuing for screen recording? I wanna try this.

#4 Screen recording changed between updates to iOs 11.

I am familiar with your issue and experience it myself. Very disappointing because I view this feature as an invaluable training tool. I used it to teach sighted people how to use and navigate various features of the iPhone. I would tell them just to follow my screen. I would turn down the voice so that it wasn't so intrusive and it workd great. Now it doesn't. The level of the built-in microphone far exceeds the level of the recording of VoiceOver. I would assume Apple changed things because this feature could be used to read notes or other text into a voice format thus becoming a copyright concern? But that's just a guess.I say let the plagerists self destruct if they will and bring back a most needed tool for trainers and techs such as myself. I have gone through every diagnostic step I know to try and resolve this issue but have come up with nothing. I know the iPhone very well and it's been a while since I've been stumped. This leads me to further believe this change was intentional at best and a bad mistake in software programming at worst. I wish I had a better answer for ya partner but I do not.

#5 Screen Recording, Major Bug

What we are experiencing with Screen Recording is, in fact, a major bug, though Apple apparently doesn't think so (what else is new lately, given the world-wide public outcry that it took to get the "delete flick" fixed in Email!) I have been enrolled in the iOS11 Public Beta Program since the beginning. In the first few iOS11 public betas, Screen Recording worked beautifully! I was just ecstatic about its potential for all kinds of reasons. Turning on the mic for recordings would allow the audio to continue playing through the speaker. Thus beautiful recordings with both audio and video, created with just the iDevice and therefore doable anywhere. However, some time in mid-summer, I started noticing that turning on the mic indeed caused Voiceover to divert its audio to the ear speaker. If I'm sounding particularly annoyed, it's because I have consistently and patiently taken the time and trouble to submit a new and very detailed feedback report with every subsequent release. Where are the blind people who work at Apple who should be bringing this forward for resolution, or maybe they don't use Screen Recording. So No Arvind, it's not your problem at all! It's Apple's, and one can only hope that they'll fix it so that it's actually useful to the Voiceover community.

#6 having it too

Hey.
I'm alsos experiencing this, but actually if you record an app with sounds, it acts like you have a line in or mixer interface plugged in. I recorded one of the blindfold games and it sounded like I was using line in to do it.

#7 How do I do this

I would like to do screen recording. Where do you go to do it? I would like to know.

#8 Found it

I found it. I had to look it up. It works fine for me. I love this feature and have experimented and actually made a podcast with both audio and voice.

#9 Works fine for me

It works fine. I recorded a podcast of a blindfold game and it caught the game even when I was wearing headphones. I understand it can’t be in stereo but this is not needed for this app. The only problem I am having is that it does not record VoiceOver at all. Is there a way to do this?
