Problems with YouTube

I'm having trouble with YouTube.

In the default Apple app, I can't sign in to my Google/YouTube account in order to subscribe or make playlists.

On the other hand, I can't seem to figure out how to operate the web based site/app.

I really like the accessibility of the default app, but I'm locked out of some features I want to use. I can sign in to the web based app, but it's really confounding to operate with Safari and VoiceOver.

Any guidance would be great. If more specific info is needed, please just ask and I'll gladly provide it . . . Short of my login info, of course. ;)

I gave the Tubeacco app a try and I can't login to my account there either.

Tubeacco is a pretty good app with some issues--I can't figure out how to read video descriptions.

Anyway, I assume you are just putting your username vs. your entire email address in the field?

The way I've understood it, I think all you are supposed to enter is the username, not the full email address.


Tried both

I have used both just the email user name and the full email.

Either way, when submitted in Apple's app, I get an error pop up; and in Tubeacco, I get a page where Google asks me to confirm letting Tubeacco manage my YouTube account, which also fails.

I am beginning to wonder if there is a problem with the account, but I can log into just fine. I just can't figure out how to work it with VoiceOver and Safari on the iPhone.

I just thought of this

My email username includes a period. I know a lot of websites hate usernames with non-alphanumeric characters. Could this be the source of my issues?

I don't want to create a new g mail address just to subscribe and comment on YouTube, but I will if that is the best way to fix the problem.
