Help with rowing in A Blind Legend.

Hi all,
If any of you could help with tips on rowing in A Blind Legend, specifically I seem to be doing it wrong possibly. I'm using my finger to move up and down the screen, from top to bottom, but I have no idea if I'm doing it correctly because there is no feedback and you seem to be rowing for absolutely ages, so surely I'm therefore making a mistake in some way. The game is fantastic and tuns of fun, but any advice would be very welcome.

Forum:

#1 Swipe up, swipe down, Swipe

Swipe up, swipe down, Swipe up, swipe down, Swipe up, swipe down, Swipe up, swipe down, Swipe up, swipe down.

You get the idea?

The motion feels like you're rowing a boat.

Like the instructions tell you, don't go too fast, just keep a steady rhythem and you should do fine.

Just keep a look out for arrows, because you need to use your shield from time to time.

HTH.

#2 Well-said, and a question

This rowing motion reminds me of dragonboats, haha.
I have a question on scene 23, the rooftop chase. I had a "miss and win" the first time, but I'm never able to replicate it. It seems as if the game will not detect my swipe up and five lives were lost in a moments time. Is it a bug? Or am I not doing it right?

#3 Thank you.

Thanks for that, I think I understand the general idea now. However, I still seem to be rowing for a very, very long time, equivalent to actually crossing the sea?. On my last attempt it must have been for more than 20 minutes, and I'm actually getting pretty bad cramps, I was killed by an arrow in the end, but surely they haven't designed the game so your rowing for such a long time.
Can you give me an idea of how long the crossing should take?

#4 Figured it out.

Finally figured rowing out, I was doing the gesture wrongly, as I thought originally. I think the instructions could be clearer, you are not swiping up and down, well I suppose you are, but I was swiping with my finger positioned on the screen without lifting off before swiping. Now stuck on the next stage and getting caught before I can climb the ladder.

#5 Follow Luis always

If you can, turn as she walks, and run at full speed. She will turn quickly and run towards the ladder. Once you've reached the ladder, you will begin to climb. Never stop, till she says "that's it". On my condition, before I reached the ladder, she was on my left, and when she runs towards the ladder, she will be on my right. I have to make a right turn and run after her.
Good luck!

#6 Cracked it.

Massive thanks for the help, finally climbed the ladder! more by luck than judgement probably!. It can be difficult because it is hard to judge how far left or right you need to move sometimes, once, twice, or more, whilst not being caught I've found.
Not bad, I suppose, as only been playing since Friday evening, but did take me a long time to get to the ladder and work out the rowing gesture. I wouldn't fancy playing this on hardcore.

#7 Congratulations!

Yeah, I admit that sometimes there's this "miss and win" thing going on. I had a long time with the gard room scene. I think the next thing would be the rooftop chase - it's simply too fast!

#8 Finished game this evening.

Managed to get through the whole game this evening. A little disappointed with the ending, and actually found the fight before Thork. much more difficult. A very good game however, all in all. I do have a problem with reliably performing combos, maybe it is because I'm on a small screen, relative to a keyboard, sometimes I do them all of the time, and other times, I can't do them at all, which is a bit strange. I'd look forward to playing more games like this one, because I'm not generally a gamer, but may have now, finally, been bitten by the bug.
Thanks again for your help!.

#9 Congratulations!

I'm not a gamer either. I like this game for the story and the audio experience. As for combos, I'm using an iPhone SE and I use two hands to perform combos. He attacks very fast. You will hear his swing. Protect yourself when you hear his swinging. That's all I can say.

#10 Hardcore isn't all that

Hardcore isn't all that difficult, not when you've played the other levels.

When I played hardcore, I still got stuck at the previous parts when I played the easier levels, but because I knew what to do, I eventually managed to beat the game, even on hardcore.

I also purchased unlimited lives so I didn't have to wait for my lives to top up.

That certainly helps, plus, it's a great way to support the developer.

It's a pity it's one of those games that I find boring once you've played through.

There isn't replay value, at least, not for me.

What we need, is an audiogame that is open world.

#11 I wonder

I wonder, is the hardcore mode more difficult than the normal mode? What's the difference between the two?
I can't seem to want to challenge myself.
Yeah, I think we need more great experiences. Especially free ones for people like me who is not convenient in making purchases.

#12 I didn't find much difference

I didn't find much difference.

Maybe a few more hits to kill people, but that's about it.

I also knew how to combo early on in the game so that helps too.

I could combo before you learn to combo, if that makes sense.

Obviously you don't need to use a combo on everyone, the king I find easier if you don't use a combo on, he's actually very easy to beat, cause he's so slow.

He likes to use brute strength not agility.

For a freemium, it's actually a pretty decent game.

There are games out there that charge, only for you to beat them in like half an hour.

Now that is a rippoff.

#13 On Combo

Before I learned how to shield bash, I fought the king with the sword only. I didn't draw my shield to protect me. He's pretty slow, and, as long as I could time him, I could beat him in, like five minutes or something. But after I learned how to use the combo a few weeks ago right here, I found I could pass the scenes more quickly, and will not have to spend too much time on fighting. And the game seems more exciting that way.
But yeah, you could pretty much get through the game just by one-strike at a time.
