Creating a Campaign of the Month to advocate specifically for Mac Apps?

By Bryan Jones, 10 June, 2012

Folks, In my opinion, Applevis is doing a commendable job of simplifying and unifying IOS App accessibility advocacy via the "Campaign of the Month." I'm wondering if you might consider adding a parallel campaign to help organize and simplify the process of contacting Mac App developers to help us all spread the word about accessibility to those Developers whose OS X Applications are in need of some tuning. Mac apps are already welcome

Bryan,

This is something that we have discussed in the past, and we all agreed that our Campaign of the Month should be open to Mac apps.

I don't think that anybody has actually nominated a Mac app yet, although to be fair we could do more to indicate that the Campaign of the Month is open to both iOS and Mac apps.

However, perhaps the main reason that no Mac apps have featured so far is that we do not have any Mac users on the Team right now. This is a recognized weakness, and perhaps it is time that we finally do something to correct it, so that the Mac-specific areas of this site don't get overlooked.

I'll post a separate message about this later.

Thank you, David. Indeed, I was not aware that Mac Apps are welcome in the Campaign of the Month and I look forward to nominating a few Mac Apps for the campaign. I would still like to suggest that the Applevis team consider possibly adding a separate Mac App campaign at some future time if the resources are available. If the recent WebAIM survey results are an accurate indication of trends, the skyrocketing popularity of IOS VoiceOver might be well served by it's own campaign, and perhaps even more than one campaign per month if enough Users choose to add their voices in advocacy this way.
