Description of App

Reverb allows you to interact with Alexa from anywhere. Via Alexa, Reverb answers questions, reports traffic and weather, gives info on local businesses, provides sports scores and schedules, and more using the Alexa Voice Service. Reverb now uses Alexa v2, which adds support for timers, alarms, long form audio, audiobooks, and more. It can also interact with smart devices that are compatible with Alexa, such as lights, switches, and thermostats compatible Samsung SmartThings, WeMo, Philips Hue, and others. Alexa is always learning new features, plus thousands of skills like 1-800-flowers, Animal Sounds, and more Reverb does not support music due to Alexa doesn't allow use of Amazon Music in apps. Only hardware implementations are allowed to play Amazon Music. Try Asking Questions: Alexa, set a timer for 5 minutes. Alexa, set volume to 4. Alexa, set an alarm for 5 pm. Alexa, why is the sky blue? Alexa, how many ounces are in a cup? Alexa, how far is the moon? Alexa, tell me a joke. Alexa, what is 16 plus 41 multiplied by 24? Alexa, do you know Siri? Alexa, sing happy birthday. Try enabling other skills via voice Alexa, enable Campbell's Kitchen. Alexa, ask Campbell's Kitchen what's for dinner. An Amazon account is required in order to sign in and use Alexa service.

Accessibility Comments

For the most part, this works well with VoiceOver. When you first launch the app, you will be presented with a screen that contains an unlabeled button. Pressing this button takes you to the Amazon page where you enter your account details to use the Alexa voice service. Once that is done, you're good to go. When you wish to talk to Alexa, press the space bar twice, speak your question, and press space. You should hear the response immediately. I have found this method to be much more reliable than trying to press and hold the speak button with VoiceOver.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver, but the interface could be easier to navigate and use.

Other Comments

Even though I have an Amazon Echo, I love having access to the Alexa service on my Mac. It's also handy when I'm not around my Echo.

Well, I finally managed to get this app on here and I like it thus far. I'm wondering where its preferences are, but I will just have to play around with it some more. I did get Alexa to sing though, and tell me a couple bad jokes. I shared these with my neighbor across the hall and he too thought they were bad, lol! But Amazon has done a nice job thus far. Kudos also to the actual developer(s) of this Mac app.
