Hi,
So was wondering if anyone had managed to get the audio based game, Mistworld, working on mac using crossover, the wine based windows import tool?
I've got it installed, all the voices are part of the game which is a great help, however, the keyboard doesn't work correctly. It's registering the press as the keys appear to work in menus but don't work when in the game itself.
Any ideas or thoughts greatly received.

Crossover
Any tips on installing crossover itself? It sound like something I would be interested in, being able to play windows games without needing a full windows installation.

It's not a sure fire way of installing windows games. There is a rather extensive list of apps that are known to work well but, of course, our games are not among them.
Installation is pretty easy, get it from the crossover website and install like any other app on mac. You need to create a bottle which is the environment in which the app runs then you can install the app to it. As there is going to be a windows window up on your mac and voiceover won't read it, you need to use VOCR to progress through installation menus.
As yet, I've not found any game that does work properly. It's not for the faint of heart to try, especially if we don't know if the final result will be worth it.
What games did you have in mind, I could perhaps have a try at installing them.
Games to try
Of the games to try, I was wondering if the Pokemon Access scripts would work with crossover. Also 1428 Shadows over Silesia, a mainstream game with accessibility for the visually impaired fully implemented. Where can I go to get orefamiliawith VOCR?

That last game looks interesting. Sadly there doesn't seem to be a trial version. It's a lot to spend on a test.
Regarding VOCR:

Check that out. I've found it invaluable. Lets me use slicing software for my 3D printers. The shortcut to use it is a little awkward and would like to see that improved, or even apple simply take notice of it and include it in the full app, but it's certainly save my bacon many times.
Regarding the scripts, I'm not sure how it all works yet. I'm not very windows competent so not sure how scripts fit in and how crossover deals with such files.
Have a go, but be prepared for disappointment.. Though, as you're on here, that probably goes without saying.
Just for any reading, this…
Just for any reading, this is more out of interest. Paralellels remains the easiest way to install games though they are also limited. The only real way to play any PC game on the mac is either with an intel mac (though the graphics specs may make it impossible to play games such as the last of us), or to use a remote/cloud PC. I did have a go with shadow, which is a cloud based PC setup, it's quite expensive and the interface to remote into the machine isn't the best. there are ways around this by using apps such as jump desktop that work better with voiceover, but that adds another layer of complexity.
In short, there is no easy way to play windows games on the mac... Which kinda makes sense.
I have an Intel Mac
I haven’t been able to replace it, and the only Windows titles I’ve played on it were through Fusion so far. And virtual machines are limited by the amount of memory one can assign to them. I split my memory evenly between the host and guest machines, and as a result neither performs ultimately. So I’m always interested ina solution that would allow a game to take full advantage of the memory on the Mac side without having to boot into virtual.
Bootcamp sounds like your…
Bootcamp sounds like your best bet. Realise it puts you wholesale in the windows environment, but you'll certainly get the best performance that way.
First option
I was actually going to try bootcam. Unfortunately, I was enable to partition my disc in a satisfactory manner; of the 138 gb of free storage cleared, the partition would only allocate 92 to windows, not nearly enough. So I gave on boot camp, since I only have 256 gb. Also, truthfully, I don’t really want to immerse myself in Windows and nothing but. Everything but the gaming aspect of the Mac suits me, even if VoiceOver could definitely use some work.
