Audacity recommends for us VoiceOver users to download the so-called "screen reader" version of Audacity 2.1.1. However, while I only use Audacity for simple projects, I found working with this version to be very difficult. On a whim, I downloaded the latest version (at that time 2.3.3) to see if it would work any better, and I actually had a much better experience. They're up to 2.4.1 as of this writing, but I highly recommend downloading the latest version as opposed to the one they recommend for us.

If anyone knows anything about why Audacity leaves this recommendation up, please let us know here.

IDK. however, I use Amadeus pro, which is my preferred recording application for getting the job done quickly.
