The titles of suggested Shows, Movies, and Categories on the initial view of the Search tab of the TV app are not spoken by VoiceOver

Category
VoiceOver Announcements/Feedback
Severity
Minor

Description

When first navigating to the Search tab of the TV app, a grid of icons is displayed that offers a number of suggested categories, movies, and shows. Typically, VoiceOver will only speak the correct name of a small number of these, with the remainder either announced as unlabelled buttons or given a name that's possibly based upon the file name of the icon or the results of VoiceOver's image recognition feature.

It's likely that what appears on this tab will vary depending upon previous viewing history, location, and whether you are an Apple TV+ subscriber, so your own experience of this issue may vary.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Ensure that VoiceOver is enabled.
  2. Open the TV app.
  3. Navigate to the Search tab.
  4. Without performing a search, move VoiceOver focus through the grid of suggested shows, movies, and categories displayed on this screen.

You would expect VoiceOver to speak the name of each as focus is placed on to it.

In most cases it does not, simply announcing that the UI element is an unlabelled button.
