iOS Statistics

  • over 800 million iOS devices sold last year…
  • 9to5Mac: : 800 million iOS devices sold. 100 million touches, 200 million iPads, iPhone 500 million units. 130 million new Apple customers last year.

  • Spotlight search in iOS to also get a new look and feel …
  • iOS to get quick-type autocorrect … similar to apps such as Swiftket on Android?
  • Messaging app to get new look and functionality in iOS 8 … including quicker and easier dictating of messages.
  • Listen to voice messages directly from the lock screen by just lifting the iPhone to your ear …
  • Health Kit in iOS 8 to offer a one stop location for storing and retrieving health and fitness data … available to 3rd party apps.
  • Sharing of purchases across family members now possible without using the same Apple ID.
  • Apple accounts must use the same credit card to share purchases.
  • If it’s your kid's Apple ID, you will be prompted to approve any purchases on your own device.
  • New photo app coming to OS X next year. Will build upon iCloud Drive.
  • Looks like this could be a replacement for iPhoto on the Mac .. to simply be known as Photos.
  • iCloud Photo Library on iOS will also build upon iCloud Drive.
  • New pricing and plans for iCloud. Was that $4 for 200GB?
  • Improvements coming to the App Store on iOS … making it easier to find the best and related apps.
  • Developers will be able to offer bundles of multiple apps at a discounted price.
  • Developers will be able to give video demonstrations of apps through the App Store.

  • As an example, a 3rd app could be accessed and work within the photos app to add filters.
