Muffling is very much like what Mute does in the Twitter native app. It is a way to muffle people from your timeline.. This allow you to keep following someone without haveing to unfollow them. What you can't do and somebody can clarify this for me. Is that you can't muffle upon say a hastag. It only works on a person. So basically you can only turn them off or on from your timeline. HTH

Hello Jose, Just double tap on the person you want to muffle on your timeline. From the Menu go down to the "From@The Person Name." Double tap on this. Now flick to the right until you find the Action button. Double tap on this button and you will now have the option to Muffle the User. HTH

I'm having trouble muffling hashtags using Voice Over. I contacted Twitterific support, and they said tap and hold the hashtag to bring up that option. When I asked for more help, they gave me a site to go to which, while a nice promotional, did nothing to explain why I'm having difficulty with this process. Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks.

With Twitterrific being so highly regarded by my fellow blind peeps, I finally broke down and bought it even though I have been very happy with Tweet List. Not sure if I have a setting set wrong, as none of my Direct Messages are showing up under Messages. I just got a few from someone and they show up on my mac in Night Owl, in Tweet List in the iPhone, but Messages in Twitterrific are blank. Any clue what the problem is? Thanks

Submitted by Caleb Eee on Thursday, April 25, 2013

Hi, I'm facing same thing as well. When I do what is suggested, it will start searching the hash tag instead.

Hello All, I am a tweet ListPro user who decided to download the twitterific app this weekend. I love it and I am considering switching to it full-time, but I wanted to know if there is a way to change the time stamp of the tweets in twitterific? In tweetlist Pro, you have the option to change the time stamp to a Absolute date format; such as Saturday 5pm. This is the day and time of the tweet, unlike in twitterific, you get a time stamp of 3 hours ago, or 18 minutes ago. I like the absolute date format in tweetlist Pro better and want to know if this option is available in twitterific. I didn't see that, but am I missing something? Is there a way to do this currently? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. -Andrew-

Hi Andrew, Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do this. The timestamps in Twitterrific 5 used to be absolute, and I too liked this feature.

For those of you wondering, muffling is not currently supported with VO in twitterific; I read this on there FAQ forums, if anyone is still wondering.

That is interesting. That must be an outdated FAQ that they have up. I am able to use the muffling with no issue. It even shows me who I am muffling as well. Will have to check with the Twitterrific Team on this. Thanks for the info!

Alex, probably the easiest way to view your own tweets is via your profile page, which you can get to by double-tapping on the 'Side Bar' button in the top left corner of the screen.

Submitted by alex wallis on Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Hi, I have just upgraded to the new version, however I can't see any option in the side bar when opened called today or anything similar, does anyone know how to access this new today view?

Submitted by alex wallis on Tuesday, July 23, 2013

thought it might be easier to ask the developers directly, you have to turn on push notifications in settings for the today view apparently.

Still having an issue where VO says there are 3 new items in Twitterrific even though there aren't. I've tried uninstalling from phone and iTunes, then reinstalling. Also tried clearing the cache on my account. Strangely, when I reinstalled Twitterrific, and even before I added my Twitter info, it still told me there were 3 new items.

I have two accounts and my first one worked streight away, but my other one I can't seem to access. It is listed in accounts and when I click on it it says "pomission needed to view this account" and a sign in with Twitter button. I click sign in with Twitter and it redirects me to Safari. I sign in on Safari and I'm then redirected back to Twitterific, which has a screen that says "reticulating splines" and a "working..." button. If I click "working... button" it just goes back to the pomission needed screen with the sign in with twitter again or back to accounts menu, where I can still only access one acccount. I've had a look at my settings and it is allowed access on both my iPhone settings and on Twitter itself. By the way, the reticulating splines screen doesn't do anything. I ended up leaving my phone on it for about 5 minutes or so while I sorted out something else, and when I came back to it it was on exactly the same screen. I've also tried reinstalling the app and that hasn't helped either. Can anyone help? Thanks

Thanks but it didn't work. When I checked my settings, both my accounts were listed. I also tried delete the account that wasn't working from iOS and authorize again, but it still didn't help. Thanks though

This latest update has not resolved the issue of your focus or place being lost frequently when reading through your timeline with VoiceOver.

Twitterific has contacted me earlier this evening on this subject. It is apparently a bug and they are aware of the problem. They are currently working on this and hope to have a fix for this soon. HTH

Anyone else having an issue with the notifications after purchasing the ability inside the app? I decided I liked it enough to purchase all the app features, but feeling really irritated that even after spending the money, I don't get notification alerts or the badge icon updates (back ground refresh is on). I checked, double checked and triple checked the settings inside the app and in the notification center settings in IOS itself, and everything is turned on. I'm connected to the internet and even tried restarting my phone as well as re-installing the app, but still nothing changes. Am I doing something wrong?

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Monday, March 31, 2014

Did you get any errors about the twitter service/ It uses twitter's notifications so go in to the setting in twtiteriffic and click the notifications part. it will say something to the effect that it's checking twitter's servers.

Submitted by Nolly on Monday, March 31, 2014

I didn't receive any error messages but for some reason I wasn't logged into Twitter in the IOS settings, I logged in and allowed Twitterific to use it. Is this what was causing the issue?

Submitted by Michael Hansen on Monday, March 31, 2014

Hi Nolly,

It sounds like there may have been a Twitter permissions issue in iOS that might be causing you to not receive notifications. It is also worth checking to ensure Twitterrific has all of the necessary permissions in your Twitter easy way to do this is to see if you can get into your direct messages, as if you are not fully logged into Twitter this will not work.

Submitted by Nolly on Monday, March 31, 2014

I can enter my messages, see everything as normal, but still don't receive push notifications. Twitterific has permission to use my account, and I am logged in to Twitterific as well. I just checked everything again but don't understand why the notifications part doesn't seem to work, as everything that needs to be on is on. Any other suggestions?

Submitted by alex wallis on Monday, March 31, 2014

Hi, you get notifications for messages and mentions etc, you don't get notifications just for new tweets. Streaming is for the timeline automatically updating when new tweets are sent to your timeline streaming only works on wifi, though I believe notifications work on cellular as well as wifi. I don't bother using streaming myself as VoiceOver doesn't work very well with it, because if you are in the app above your timeline VoiceOver doesn't tell you if a new tweet comes in, if you are focused on the newest tweet in your timeline as soon as a new one comes in VoiceOver simply reads you the tweet you are focused on and not the new tweet. From a VoiceOver users point of view I find streaming a quite useless feature as you have to keep manually flicking up to read new tweets anyway just to stop old ones automatically reading each time the timeline updates. I find notifications work well with VoiceOver but unfortunately twitterrific won't extend it so that VoiceOver users will be sent new tweets as notifications. I have streaming turned off and just manually refresh when needed because of how it just doesn't work well with VoiceOver.

Submitted by Nolly on Monday, March 31, 2014

I do wish I had known this before spending the money to upgrade the app. The main reason I had done it is because it is tiresome to have to go into an app or log into a site just to check if anything new has happened. I personally wouldn't use Twitter at all but since so many forms of news come out this way, I figured it was the best choice to stay up to date, especially when the Fantasy Football season opens. Thank you for the information and thank you to the people who attempted to help me resolve this issue. Is there a way I can get notifications on another app? I know I could search for it but after this incident I don't want to just hope that the app does what I want it to do. I don't ever respond, send out tweets so I would just need it to notify me if anything is posted.

Submitted by alex wallis on Monday, March 31, 2014

I don't know of any apps which stream and automatically read new tweets. Notifications read automatically its just streaming that doesn't work well. I would certainly like to find a new app where tweets automatically read but don't think this is possible.

Hi Noly, What specifically are you trying to get push notifications for, e.g. mentions, direct messages, new followers, etc.? Twitterrific sends push notifications for a lot of different events on Twitter, but does not support notifications for tweets from a particular person. The native Twitter app does, however. The native Twitter app is also free.

Submitted by Nolly on Monday, March 31, 2014

Yes, I am trying to find a way to get notifications when a new tweet comes in from a particular person or persons. You say the native app does this? Do I have to do something to enable this or is it turned on automatically? I still like Twitterific and will use it for everything else but I still desire the ability to get a notification if a new tweet is posted when I am not currently in the app.

Submitted by Faerie on Monday, March 31, 2014

Hey I don't know if this is what your looking for or not but there is this app called the social radio that reads everything as it comes in. The voices are nice too.

Submitted by Nolly on Monday, March 31, 2014

I got it now. The native Twitter app has the ability as you said, but you have to go into each person you are following and turn on notifications individually per person. It works and I now get alerts on my main locked screen. Thank you again for the help, using the Twitter app for notifications and Twitterific for everything else will work out just fine. I'm just glad there was a way to do it.

I have tried several Twitter apps, and I have to say, this one is by far the best for voiceover users. I love how fast and easy it is to use. The only thing I would recommend for the next update, is dividing things in the main menu into tabs, such as mentions, direct messages, etc. In my opinion, that would be much easier than having them be next to each other at the top. Other than that, this app is awesome! And I would highly recommend it, especially if you love Twitter. :)
