Description of App

PartyLine connects you with people from all over the world in a live one on one voice chat. Search by gender. Lets talk!

Features:
• Doesn’t use any of your voice minutes – since the app is voip-based, none of the voice minutes for your phone contract are used.
• Universal app that works on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
• Cellular or Wi-Fi – works over just about any network and firewall with very low bandwidth (less than 1.5K/sec upstream and downstream).
• Match with anyone anywhere in the world.
• Rating system to discourage rude behavior.
• Friend system to allow for future conversations with people you like using push notifications.
• Currently there is only one universal room, but future updates will have different location based chat rooms.

PartyLine - The ultimate talk line. Get on the Party Line.

ENGLISH ONLY: Presently PartyLine is only available for English-only conversations. Other languages will be added later.

Accessibility Comments

There's only one unlabelled button on the main screen after you login. This one is for starting a match. The sound after the call is finished stays faded away like in Voxer when you play messages. Killing the app in the App Switcher should fix the problem. Otherwise everything is fine.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Other Comments

It's like Omegle but in the form of voice calling. May be a great thing for people learning English and wanting to practise it.

Seems like i always come across as negative but...

The thing i'm afraid of with apps like Partyline is the people i will talk to. In this world of weirdos and other creepy folks, matching anonymously feels like a very risky idea. who knows whom you're going to end up talking with. I hope i am wrong, would be fun to test but i for my part daren't. Guess that says more about me than about the program eh?:-) lol

Hi, unfortunately I can't

Hi, unfortunately I can't find the podcast relating to this app. I also have just tried to sign up, and I was able to fill in my name password etc, but then I was asked for my gender and I was given two buttons, I tapped the male button but was given no indication from VoiceOver that male had been selected. I experienced a more serious problem when the app asked for my year of birth, the screen says to use the slider to select, but unfortunately VoiceOver treats this slider as if it is a numerical slider and so reds you values like 10 percent, 20 percent etc, which isn't remotely helpful for choosing the right year. After a bit of experimenting I found out that the year you have selected is displayed to the left of the slider, so each time you change the slider value you have to flick to the left to read what year you have selected. When you adjust the slider with ordinary flicks you are moved in blocks of ten years I think, but once you get close enough to your actual birth year that moving the slider with ordinary flicks would take you past your year, you have to then tap and hold on the slider and try moving your finger in very small amounts to get to your actual year. The rest of the sign up process went fine. I found after I signed up and was logged in, that the main menu is full of unlabeled buttons, 6 to be exact I haven't experimented to find out what they do yet, but I think in light of these issues the accessibility information needs updating.

Hi Krister:
I totally agree with what you said. I mean, this app seems like a fun one to use, but of course, in this day and age, there are some crazy people out there on social networks. And like you said, you never know who they may end up matching you with.
If you'r looking for a fun app to keep everyone updated on what you're doing and to make new friends, I would highly recommend the app called Melt, "Voice your important thoughts." It's very accessible with VoiceOver, and I use it all the time. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Crazy people question try again…

well… You may find some crazy, creepy weirdos on this app, but mainly what you're going to find it is rude little children. That's right, rude little children with nothing better to do that and saw you! I've talked to about six of them. However, I have actually also talked to two relatively decent people… One of them with the rating of -26, meaning that he should have been very rude… but he was actually the nicest person that I've met so far! Don't listen to the ratings. They will miss lead you!
