Selecting by author

By Astra

Has anyone else found this problem I am encountering with this. Selecting a quote by category alphabetically works really well, but when I try selecting an author in the same way, my iPod touch 4th gen, goes into quiet mode, nothing moves, speaks and if you happen to be totally blind, as I am, then zilch!!! I deleted it and tried reinstalling it from the store and from my computer which it was on but still no luck. I can't get it to select randomly by shaking it either. Any suggestions would be welcome. I have taken it off as I find if it doesn't work as it should, then it's more than hard going. I am very new to this and some would say too old in the tooth but I love my iPods.
