Accessibility Comments

The new gameplay style of Kingdoms replaces the category wheel with 9 boxes that contain different types of questions. The buttons to reveal these were previously invisible to VoiceOver, however as of version 1.07 this has been fixed and VOiceOver just sees them as "buttons". Version 1.08 improved this even further, now the boxes tell you what was inside them if they were already open, otherwise they are just read out as "box" as well as their position from 1 to 9. Another long-standing issue that has been fixed in this version is that if you answer the question incorrectly, VoiceOver will now tell you which answer was correct, so you can actually learn more from playing the game than you could previously. Lastly, you can now see how many crowns each person has on their game screen, which was another previously invisible element. Finally, in version 1.1, VoiceOver will tell you the position of the king if you get a guide character and answer their question correctly.

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

I like this game a lot with how the channels work. For example, instead of just being good at "entertainment" and "science", you can now follow channels for more specific topics, such as various TV shows like star trek, or topics like games,, technology, Apple and so on. This gives you a lot more control over what types of questions you will be getting, which was the most common gripe I've heard about the original trivia crack game.

anyone tried to invite facebook friends? When I tap invite the Facebook app opens briefly but then it goes back to the game and nothing happens.

I actually found that creating channels was quite accessible. In fact, I successfully did this just now.

Really the most inaccessible part of this, I think, is creating actual questions for the channel.

When you create a question, the first edit field is the question you type. After you get through the language/regional settings, the next (unlabeled) buttons are the answers you provide. I do know that, in the original Trivia Crack, the first answer that you typed was always supposed to be the correct one, though I'm not really sure if this applies with this game.

Hope this all helps a little bit though.

Also, have you found any way to search the question bank so that you don't end up submitting a duplicate question?

Thanks

Hi! After hearing the podcast about Trivia Crack Kingdoms yesterday, I decided to get this game: so far I've been practising against a random opponent to get used to the game, but obviously i'll play against people I know in the future. Interestingly, I didn't have to create an account, Trivia Crack Kingdoms used my user name from the original Trivia Crack game, and my friends list already had a few people I know in it, whom I'd already played trivia Crack against in the past. Switching Voiceover off to tap a box on the grid to unlock a question in Trivia Crack Kingdoms doesn't bother me, but I have found a part of the game which might put VoiceOver users at a disadvantage, namely if we unlock one of those questions where we have to answer five questions in thirty seconds: i found I wasn't fast enough using VO to answer all five questions in time. Other than that, I'm enjoying this game a lot so far.

Well, this app has recently been updated with still no change in the accessibility ofthe "boxes". VoiceOver still can't read them.

This after a friend of mine stated that she had been talking to the developer who had himself suggested ways to improve this. However, it seems that, so far, this has just been lip service.

Perhaps more of us should contact the developer(s) of this app to let them know how influential we are and how much we care about improved accessibility.

Submitted by Derrick on Monday, December 14, 2015

I think before we start crying injustice maybe we should wait until a major update is released. This trivia crack is better by leaps and bounds over the last version. There are really no show stoppers accept for question submissions. As long as we keep communicating our needs they will continue to improve an already great game in my opinion. Take care all and remember this is a game not life and death.

Submitted by Toonhead on Monday, January 11, 2016

Admittedly I haven't played this game for a while. When I tried this game it did nothing but confused me. From what I'm told, you have to disable VoiceOver just to pick a question. If that's still the case, then I'm gonna suggest to the editorial team that the usability status should be modified to say that it's usable with VoiceOver, but it has issues and you can use it if you know how to work around them. Has this changed in a later update? Do you still need to turn off VoiceOver just to pick a box on the screen and answer a question?

Submitted by Derrick on Monday, January 11, 2016

Unfortunately that little problem hasn't been fixed. I'm hoping that subsequent updates will resolve that issue. I've reached out to them but so far I've gotten no response. That doesn't really mean anything because they end up ironing out the issues.

I'm pleased to announce that you no longer have to shut vo off in order to select the boxes. Although the buttons are unlabeled it sure makes life a bit easier. It's a start and I for one am glad.

Submitted by Raul on Tuesday, January 12, 2016

As the accessibility comments say, the buttons are unlabeled but sighted people cant see either what's in the boxes.

For those who want to play my username is rahoul, that is R, A, H, O, U, L.
Feel free to add me, I play both trivia crack and kingdoms. If you need any help within the game you can use the chat to message me.

Submitted by Toonhead on Tuesday, January 12, 2016

I tried this just a few hours ago and I must say this is about a thousand times easier now! No more having to disable VO, YAY! Yes, some of the buttons are unlabeled, but since sighted folks can't see the boxes either, I think that puts us on a very even playing field. I also really like the fact that you can subscribe to different channels and you don't have something thrown at you that you have no idea what the answer is. I'm definitely a fan of this one.

I've loved this game from the beginning but this new level of accessibility puts it over the top in my opinion.

only card bonuses are not accessible in Trivia crack. The game is perectly playable and accessible.

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Yeah that's what I mean. I can't see what the award will be for each card. I can collect them and add them to my 3 slots but I cannot see the reward. that would be nice. We'll see I guess.

Another quick question about kingdoms. How can you get rid of adds? Or is that not possible?

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Wednesday, January 13, 2016

I thought so, but it never hurts to ask. *smiles* OH well, at least you can hit done when the counter at the upper right reaches 0.

Take care all.

how does the trivia crack cards work? I have collected a few but don't get how they work exactly. if an audio podcast can be done that tells how the cards work I'd appreciate that

Now the boxes are no longer unlabelled. Instead of buttons, VoiceOver now tells you their on-screen position and also, if the box was opened before, what was inside it.

Hello, Trivia Crack kingdoms has had an awesome update, with labelled boxes buttons, now it is really a fun to play this game.
But, 2 problems still persist:
1. when going to channels, and attempting to find a channel by typing a keyword on the search engine, the app unexpectedly closes. Does it occur to you too, or is it just an Italian version bug -such as some typo on strings during translation which cause the crash-?
Then, other issue I noticed, it regards the feature to create and suggest questions. You manage to write a question, but then, answers are 4 unlabelled buttons. You can write answers of course, by pressing Enter, on the virtual -or hardware- keyboard, but while you write answer, you do not have VoiceOver feedback telling you the keys you are typing, exposing yourself to the risk of typos.
I am working to give them as many feedbacks as I can, like you all do, I think. Both on facebook page and on twitter account. They do not answer, often, but I trust them and hope everything will be fixed, with time.

I hadn't played Trivia Crack kingdoms for quite a while aafter I first tried it, but now I'm playing it more. I still wish we could get rid of ads, but I usually manage to do that manually. Being able to see which boxes for questions are still available with Voiceover running is an excellent improvement. It's not quite true that choosing your channels makes you avoid subjects you know nothing about: there's always a risk that someone will challenge you to a one-channel game with something you have no knowledge of, which happened to me recently when I got questions about "The Big Bang Theory" which I've never watched in my life. Thank goodness the answers are multiple choice, so that we can hopefully have some lucky wild guesses in such cases! That's why I accepted the challenge in spite of knowing nothing about the subject. I wouldn't refuse to play one-channel games, although I'm more likely to lose them if they're about a subject which is unknown to me: Trivia Crack Kindoms is still a good game, whether we're good at answering questions correctly or not.

I saw the problem with the search box crashing the app in the previous version (the one that had the unlabelled buttons for the boxes), though the one time I went in to add a channel with the current version nothing crashed so I assumed the problem was fixed.

Submitted by Elena Brescacin on Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Hi Piotr - I Always find the app crashing while searching for channels, don't know why.
Then, there is another problem: when you have more than 10 channels followed, only a few are displayed on the followed channels page, so, you must double-tap and hold, to swipe left and get further channels, as the swipe command introduced there, is not performed by standard mechanisms so 3 fingers scrolling does not properly work

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Yep, I can get the search box to crash as well. I did a short audio demo someware, I actually have to find it lol! But anyway The odd thing is not everyone can get the channel search box to crash; I have no clue why.

I am looking for more games in trivia crack kingdoms. My user name is tlsyslo

Hello,
Maybe you already noticed it, but now Trivia Crack Kingdom's game play is very good with VoiceOver.
We already knew about the labelled buttons, but an extra-news has come: now when we get the characters Tina, Tito and Albert, the ones which indicate where's the king, VoiceOver gives us the correct position where the king is!
For the person searching for new players: yes, I would play you, but I am not sure on channels. I follow many specific Italian channels and I am afraid that if I start a multi-channel with you, even if I set English as game Language, you may get very specific italian questions written in italian and I'd never want that to happen. I never played a trivia crack Kingdom international game so I do not know, if someone knows I'd be glad to understand how it works.
My username in kingdoms and trivia crack traditional version, is talksina. The nickname I have in every community.
I started playing trivia crack game in English, the one with 6 categories, I mean. And won some matches too, but I never tried kingdoms - if someone would start a game with me we may attempt.

Submitted by Raul on Wednesday, March 23, 2016

If you choose english as a game language you will only be shown english questions. If you only follow italian chanels you won't be able to play english games and you'll be asked to follow more chanels.

This new version also mentions an option for ad-free gameplay. Anyone got an idea where that is? I checked in the shop, but there's no obvious "remove ads" option.

Submitted by Clare Page on Wednesday, March 23, 2016

I recently updated to the latest version of Trivia Crack Kingdoms, where removing ads has become one of the in-app purchases. However, when I tried to make that purchase, I got an error message saying my device doesn't support this action. As a test, I tried one of the other in-app purchases, and the usual pop-up asking me to confirm my purchase came up. It would be a bit unfair if ads can only be removed from Trivia Crack Kingdoms on devices with 3D Touch: that's the only reason I can think of why I'd be told my device won't support that particular in-app purchase. Never mind, I can usually close the ads in Kingdoms quite easily, so I'll continue to do that!

I really like trivia crack kingdoms, and just updated to the latest version a few days ago. However, like Clare, I am receiving an error that my device does not support this operation when attempting to activate the "no ads" option in the shop. I have a 5S running 8.3 (hopefully to update soon to 9.3 as the night shift feature interests me; but that's another story).
Trivia crack kingdoms also very consistently crashes on me any time voiceover is focused on the your turn or their turn headings. I have to explore by touch, and try to get my finger right on the game I want to play in order to play it.
Has anyone figured out, when viewing your followed channels, how to show more than the first ten? I've clicked view all, and tried three finger swipes in all four directions to no avail. I don't see a page switcher on the screen anywhere. I inadvertently followed a few channels that turned out to be tv shows I've never seen. I'd like to unfollow them, but I don't remember the names to search for them, hence the need to see all of my followed channels.

I actually think voiceover accessibility in kingdoms is better than the original trivia crack. I enjoy both games!

Submitted by Elena Brescacin on Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Hi, sorry if I did not follow up.
The error of removing ads, was global; I have an iPhone 6+ and I had that error, but it solved itself some day after my previous comment here, maybe it was rolling out, and now I am happily using Trivia kingdoms without those annoying ads.
So, thanks for your information on channels and languages, I was really afraid to annoy other people; I am training with english questions in the normal Trivia crack right now.
Last but not least, I have another trick: now, the king revealed on Tina, Tito and Albert, has been removed in 1.1.1, maybe it was a bug.
Now VoiceOver just announces 2 closed boxes, Position 3 box, position 6 box, for example. So you have 50% possibility to get the king!

Submitted by Clare Page on Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Many thanks to the previous poster for letting us know that the Remove Ads in-app purchase in Trivia Crack Kingdoms is now working. I've just done that purchase, and was told it was successful, so I look forward to future turns in this game without any more ads.

OK, so, it seems that the ability to submit questions is still inaccessible, at least to the extent that which answer is wrong and which is right is not indicated by VoiceOver.

So, off-hand, does anyone know, when you list the answers for the questions you submit, which one is supposed to be the right answer and which ones are the wrong answers?

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Submitting questions is totally accessible on trivia crack kingdoms. All you do is answer the question after you are done so it knows which is right.

Submitted by JeffB on Thursday, June 16, 2016

Hi when I pick a position it is just numbered and doesn't say which one it is. Also when you play against people how exactly does that work like does each player have their own set of topics? That seems a bit confusing to me.

Submitted by Misty Dawn on Thursday, June 16, 2016

Oh, wow, that is awesome about the question creation!

Also, just letting people know that at least the XRay powerup is now accessible. Not sure about the others, so, maybe someone else can tell us whether they are or not. Just haven't tried them yet.

I must say that a few of us have been in contact with the developers of both this and the original game and they have been so incredibly responsive to our needs! The accessibility of this game has improved amazingly in recent updates!

Submitted by KE7ZUM on Thursday, June 16, 2016

I did it before. You submit questions in the channel you are in. Also each player does get their own channels. This is actually quite fun. You basically play against yourself in that mode and see if you can get all 6 kings. Or is it 3? I can't remember now.

Submitted by Blinken223 on Wednesday, August 17, 2016

I am not sure if this was ever discussed, but I was told in a List Serv that I am on that in order to remove ads from the game, you have to double tap on the "Last Refreshed" button at the top, you are rought to the shop. The first item on the list is to remove ads, although it is a little pricey for my taste at $6.99 Canadian dollars, for any fan of the game who is tired of ads, at least now you have a means of finally removing them.

Submitted by ryan97 on Monday, November 14, 2016

bringing what is quite common on gamefaqs and other mainstream game forums, achievement boosting
for anyone who doesn't know, it's exactly what it sounds like, someone helping someone else online either to gain achievements easily with an account that isn't their primary one, or just something like coins
my question is, would anyone be interested in doing this? the main thing that gave me the idea was the 25 consecutive wins achievement, it could go both ways with people swapping roles

I have set English as my game language but I want to switch it. How can this be done? I don't see that when I start a new game.
Thanks

Submitted by Seva on Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Hello. Unfortunately, switching languages thing is not accessible for VoiceOver. I wrote to developers about it via e-mail and they said that they will fix it. I recommend you to do the same thing.
