*IMPORTANT* Karateka requires iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 2 or newer, or 5th-gen iPod Touch. "Instantly, addictively fun" -MacLife
Karateka will charm you with its classic love story set in feudal Japan. Fight to save the lovely Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma and reunite her with her True Love!
"For those who remember the original, the new Karateka must not be missed. And to those with no prior knowledge: you have an excellent, new experience in store." -Touch Arcade (4.5 stars)
"With a stunning makeover and simplistic but compelling action, this terrific update brings Karateka into the 21st century in style." -Cnet
From PRINCE OF PERSIA creator Jordan Mechner, the original side-scrolling karate classic comes to new life on iPad and iPhone with art by Jeff Matsuda (The Batman) and music by Grammy-winning composer Christopher Tin (Civilization IV).
Easy to grasp yet challenging to master, the rhythm-based karate combat tells a simple human story. Three suitors vie to save Mariko: A fearsome Brute, a noble Monk, and her brave True Love.
"A brilliant life system that delivers variety in the gameplay as well as incredible replay value; you won't want to stop playing until you rescue Mariko as her True Love and see the storybook ending." - Touch Arcade
PUNCH THE HAWK!
"Fun for those of us who played the original on an Apple II, Commodore 64, or even an NES, but younger gamers will still appreciate the unique style and easy-to-learn gameplay." -ArsTechnica
"Karateka is widely considered to be one of the greatest 8-bit home computer games ever created. It wasn't a game so much as a living story that you, the player, were a part of... The new Karateka legitimately feels like it might be what Mechner's original idea would have been, if then were now." - Touch Arcade
*IMPORTANT* Karateka requires iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 2 or newer, or iPod Touch (5th generation). Karateka does NOT support earlier devices such as iPad 1, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS.

This game is not really meant for us, but i find it very accessible regardless. To run, place a finger anywhere on the screen and hold it there until you run into an enemy. When a fight starts, the enemy will always get to attack first. ding sounds will mostly indicate how many attacks there will be in the enemy's combo. Tap anywhere to block and counter. In order to attack, you need to at least counter the last hit of his combo, then tap anywhere to attack him. The more hits you counter in a combo, the longer your own attack combo will be. There is also a rage bar. When this bar is full, you will here some kind of shivering sound. Tap the screen with 2 fingers to activate your fury and hear an explosive sound, then tap 1 finger to perform a super 6 hit combo. Fury can be used immediately, or saved for more advanced opponents. Once used, you must fill up the bar using the original fighting method above. You can also attack first, or break the enemy's combo by activating fury before he makes his move, or in the middle of his combo. Power ups are the only problem. To pick them up, you must tap on them when passing them by. The first power up is after the first 3 fights and is a necessity as it is part of the tutorial. When done with your first 3 fights, run until you hear your character stop, then tap around in the middle at the bottom until you hear music notes. The phone is held in landscape with home button on the right. To start the game, tap anywhere when the mane music are playing. Since this is a paid app, i highly recommend you listen to the youtube video, to get a feel for the game and to help you decide on whether or not you find it worth the purchase. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=x4l4_afZVx0
