Hatchi - A retro virtual pet
Description of App
Hatchi is a retro-looking iPhone app sure to get the nostalgia burning for all those who cared for a virtual pet back in the 1990s when they were at the height of their popularity. Just as with the keychain-sized pets of the 90s, iPhone users now will feed, clean, play with and generally look after their pets to ensure they grow up to be healthy, happy little Hatchis. He needs YOU!
“Say goodbye to your productivity. Say hello to your new friend.” Gizmodo.com
“It's hilarious, but I really, really, really don't want Big Poppa Pump (his Hatchi monster) to bite the dust. I've somehow bonded with the thing” TouchArcade.com
Your Hatchi monster will go through several stages of growth, and will develop differently depending on the quality of care the player provides. A successfully raised Hatchi monster will be smarter, happier, and require less attention.

Try this.
Place one finger on screen and move it in a circle for a short while. Now swipe left and right to see if the wack button is available. If it is, double tap to wack and keep doing it until the button moves. Once the button moves, repeat the hole process. On easy mode, the hatchis will often keep still for longer periods, so it will be easier to wrap up coins. You are rewarded only one coin for every wack, so no need to waste time on harder modes. Harder modes will only make the hatchis move faster and more often.
Hatchie Jump?
Anyone ever beet it? I can get him to jump for a bit but it sounds like he falls into a puddle or something.
thanks
thanks for the suggestions and I've played it so far with the voiceover turned on. and for the game about where you have to match the food I always get maybe 1 for the most correct. how do you beat that game and which games offer mor coins? because sometimes when the energy goes down and I try to play the mini games I get a message saying that I don't have enough coins when in fact I do. and I mean when the energy is around 9 percent because when its at 0 I know hatchy is asleep.
Mini games
Each game takes a certain amount of energy to play. Don't know how much exactly, but 9% is already too low. When that happens, the game will ask you if you would like to buy an energy pill. Energy pills cost coins. There are 3 ways to regain energy. First there is the costly pill. Next there is food. Feeding your hatchi will restore some energy. Finally there is just a good old nap. Turn off the light and allow hatchi to recover. A good trick is to wake your hatchi and not to feed it immediately. Play with it first and drain its energy until it's tired, then give it apples until it's full. It will restore all energy, so you can play it tired for a second time. Good for making more coins.
In need of hatchi facebook friends
I want to send mystery gifts, but have no friends to send them to. My name is Denzil Melgior Nagel if anyone is interested.
wack a hatchi
wow my high score was 93. that was the only game that gave me more coins than the others
Ha, looks like i got competition.
Wack a hatchi truly is the only game where you can make more coins than anywhere else in my opinion.
another question
I have a question about the food. there are different pages of food in the game but when I go to the shop and check out the food items its the same I think. So when you feed your pet from the food that's in the game do they take out the allotted coins? or do you just have to buy the food? Mainly, I don't understand why they sell food in the shop when it is already in the game.
Hatchi Matchi
Also on Hatchi Matchi. i would say its more like a memory kind of game. So lets say cake is a1 and bread is c1 then cake is also b2. remember where the first cake was and match them. Hope that makes since or helps some.
thanks
thanks for the suggestions. for the rock paper scissors game I won a few times but it doesn't say how much coins I got. and now my high score for the wack a hatchi game I got 133. sometimes I looze the wack button but I still manage. And a question for the medicine. does it send out an alert to tell you that hatchie is sick?
Checking health
I don't know but if you go to multable hatchie, and look at your hatchie it will say healthy after it or I'm guessing sick if it's sick.
Immortal hatchi
If you can save up 10,000 coins, you can just buy the vaccination buff and so your hatchi will never get sick or die. The hyperactive buff is also super cool. Speaking of buffs, i still have a mystery gift to send. Anyone interested can add me on facebook. If you are lucky enough, the gift might be a buff. Denzil Melgior Nagel is the name.
knowing when hatchi is sick
In the middle of the screen, voiceover describes your pet. "your hatchi: a pixelated octopus." If it is sick it will add to that description "It looks sick." THen you should give it medicine. This happens if you ignore hatchi for like 24-36 hours.
Coins and games
I think if you have it set to easy and win you get 20. The harder the level the more coins you earn if you win. It also depends on how much you score in the games.
If your score is 20 you get 20 coins.
I tried hard level on Hatchi Matchi and almost made it. I scored 70. Also it costs alot of coins but save up for the coin doubler. It helps.
Hatchi demo
Coming out with a demo today! Keep watching the iOS App Directory Entry for a link.
hi, how does hatchi jump, and
hi, how does hatchi jump, and hatchi battling work? are these parts of the game accessible/playable? as for battles, i can hardly find any opponent to play with, many just "disconnected".
Hatchy Jump
I never really figured how to play Hatchy Jump. Not sure if it's accessible or not. As for the battle I battled I tryed once the player did disconect but it seemed to be playable.
Eggs
All the different kinds of eggs used to only cost coins that we earn playing the mini games. Now the different eggs cost 99 cents. I don't know how long that has went on but I'm kind of disappointed now. still love this game. I'll probably buy a new egg soon. But at least I have one and was able to get it before they started charging for it.
Whack a Hatchi, Evolution Guides, and purchasable food
Wow. Thanks for the tip for Whack a Hatchi. I'm still not very good at it. I get more coins from Hatchi Matchi. I love Hatchi Matchi. But I appreciate that I can play both an active and smart game that can award good numbers of coins. I have the coin doubler. I figured it was a good investment.
Want to mention that the Evolution Guides for Mountain and Botanical hatchis are not accessible. I e-mailed Portable Pixels, but no reply thus far.
I'm not sure what the purchasable foods are for, but it could be that some Hatchis' favorite and least favorite foods are there. I like to know what they are for each Hatchi so I can make them happy or unhappy as needed.
P.S. Whack a Hatchi consistently gives me a good number of coins. So far, my average seems to be around 65. I got ninety-something once, but after several consecutive games, my performance suffers. Still, unless you buff your Hatchi to always play games, this is still the best option for coins. Hatchi Matchi is more enjoyable to me, but sometimes, it's a waste of energy if you only get ten or twenty points.
Reading to the Hatchi
hi. I find that I can read to the Hatchi for awhile but then I get an alert saying that I don’t have enough coins but my coin balance doesn’t seem to go down. Is this a bug?
I wish i could
I wish i could challenge a sighted person somehow in wack a hatchi lol. I feel I've gotten super great at it.
notifications and Facebook
For some reason, the notifications don’t work at all.
Also, I cannot seem to log on to Facebook at all either.
hatchi matchi
How do you play that mini game? I get to see the first card, but I double tap on the second and it just says no match and won't tell me what that card is.
Still Accessible?
Hi, is this game still accessible? and What are they going to update it?
Buying an app is based on
Buying an app is based on personal preference. For me, I thought this app sounded interesting because I had one of those keychain pets back when I was in like the fourth or fifth grade.
The notifications stopped
The notifications stopped working. I still play Hatchi, but I need to know when my pets need me.
Great app which has been updated for many years
Hi.
I bought the app very long time ago, played it and got interested in other games.
Now I might remember wrong, but am I correct in the following?
1. The company released Hatchi 2 long time ago, which was not accessible. People, me included, complained so much about it. I might remember wrong, but I think that was the main reason for I stopped playing the game, because I got so angry at the company, who wouldn't make the newer game accessible.
2. The alien seems to have disappeared from the app store. However, there now seem to be an alien egg in the original Hatchi game.
The Hatchi 2 game also seems to have disappeared, but the company seems to keep updating the original game which is fully accessible. This is amazing!
Then I played the game very long time ago, I don't remember anything about the achievements in Gamecenter or the multiplayer games which you can play with your friends. I remember the game to be very limited, but I might think about an other simular game.
I look forward to give the game a try again, and I'm glad it's still being updated.
No update for a few years.
This app hasn’t been updated in a few years. I hope it’s not going to be taken down from the App Store because that would be really sad. Their websites are either expired or under maintenance. And their Facebook page hasn’t been active since 2017. I hope everything is okay.
