Device(s) App Was Tested On:
this version of the app has been totally redesigned, and appears much simpler to use, the tabs are now gone from the bottom of the screen, and most functions are controlled through a menu button. Stations are much easier to brows, you don't have to swipe on the screen to scroll the station list, and can flick through it fairly easily. I have noticed VoiceOver can stick when flicking through categories but just flicking away and back to the list seems to fix it, also sometimes it can stick in the menu and wrap between two items again its just a case of touching your way out of it on the screen. Over all this seems a big improvement over the old app. Unlabeled buttons in the sleep timer have gone. I can't find the alarm option though and I think there was one in the old version of the app. I would actually feel happy using this app to listen to a radio station whereas navigation made this very difficult previously. It can't automatically resume station playback like some non bbc apps, but it does show you what the last station you were listening to was and offers a quick and easy way to resume listening.
Note to avoid confusion, this app is not the same as the app just entitled iPlayer, it is a new app the BBC have launched, dedicated to radio content. The old iPlayer app is still available for download, the new app specifically has the word radio in the title, but the other app does not.
