One of the great things about iOS devices is the wide array of information available at the user’s fingertips. With an iOS device and an RSS reader—such as our #1 app pick of the month—one can stay current with content from any website that provides an RSS feed.

In early December 2013, a developer reached out via our contact form and told us, “We want to make our app fully accessible to people who are blind.” And that is exactly what his team did.

The 2013 AppleVis Golden Apples consist of awards in the following categories: Best iOS App, Best iOS Game, Best Mac App, Best Third Party Hardware or Accessory, and Developer of the Year.

We are pleased to announce the results of the third annual AppleVis Golden Apple Awards.

The AppleVis Golden Apple Awards were launched in 2012 as a way for the community to recognize the best apps, products, and developers of a given year.

To be shortlisted for the Golden Apple Awards, apps must be completely accessible to blind and low vision users; they must be exceptionally good at their intended purpose; and they must have a developer who has continually demonstrated a strong commitment to accessibility.

Some of you will know that the Team has a particular liking for news apps, and our pick for February is an app that  brings the news to you in a unique way.
