Quick Tip: What to do When VoiceOver Stops Talking (iOS 5 Bug)

It's happened to all of us since the release of iOS 5. You're reading mail, surfing the web with Safari, or trying to figure out the name of that cool artist playing on Pandora. Suddenly, VoiceOver freezes. It's frustrating, and Apple hasn't yet jumped on this issue. Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to wait 6 years for VoiceOver to come up again? Here's a quick solution from Wild Man Joe.

#1 Great tip

I don't think you have to press it 6 times, it's really only 5. Other than that, great job!

#3 Thank you so much!

It drives me nuts when that happens on my iphone. So now I know a quick easy way to solve the problem. I wish I knew what causes it in the first place though.

#5 We really should start flooding Apple with requests to fix this.

Submitted by Shersey on 19 June, 2012 - 12:21.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds this extremely aggravating. I plan to call Apple's accessibility number. It seems to happen most to me in my mail app, but this may be because I spend the most time there in one sitting. I don't recall this happening much, if at all, in the messages app.

Is Apple's accessibility number somewhere easily accessible on their site, perhaps on their contact us page? I really should put it in my iPhone, come to think of it.

Thanks,
Shersey

#6 This annoys me beyond belief!

I've heard of that trick as well, but the problem is, voice over freezes again not too long after you do the soft reboot, so you have to do it again, and again, and again. So frustrating!

#7 Ugh, I know how you feel!

I seriously am going to find Apple's accessibility number and speak to someone about this. Rationally and politely, of course, but I will be speaking to someone. This is going to be added to the list of the hundred and one other things I have to do here in the near future. :D
