Accessibility Comments

I thought this might be a useful little app, but unfortunately it has enough accessibility problems to make it useless.

The app only has one screen. The first item you will hear is the current charge level of the battery. This is identified by VoiceOver as a button, but the only response I got when tapping it was a short audio clip.

The next swipe to the right will take you to an indicator of whether your device is charging. This is read okay. Unfortunately, things go seriously downhill from here!

The next four items on the screen control the app settings. The 4 settings are Sounds, Alerts, Vibration and Notifications. However, VoiceOver will not tell you this. Instead, all you will hear are a series of buttons labelled either "common prev" or "common next". These buttons are used to select your choice for each of the 4 settings. In the case of the Sounds setting, these buttons will move you through the available options. VoiceOver will not tell you what the options are as you pass through them, nor will it tell you which one is selected.

The final 2 items on the screen are a link to another of the developers app and an option to tell a friend about the Charge Alert app.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads a few page elements.

Button Labelling

No buttons are clearly labelled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.

Other Comments

This app is currently available as a free download.

#1 lite version

Submitted by Peter Mahach on 29 January 2011.

When this app will no longer be free they also have a lite version, which is the one I have. It isn't any better accessibility wise.
