iDevice Primer 107: How do I find apps?

There are two common ways of finding apps:
- In iTunes (on a computer), select "App Store" from the list of options, navigate to the search box, enter your text, and press enter. Navigate to the results page and download the app(s) you want. Once your app(s) are downloaded, sync your iDevice device. Assuming you have enabled the syncing of apps, the new app(s) will appear on your device once the sync is complete.
- On your iDevice, find and open the "App Store" app. Use the buttons along the bottom of the screen to select what you want to do (view top apps, search, and so on). Once you find the app you want, select the button to download it. As of the time of this writing, this button is normally near the top right of the screen (unless you scroll down one or more pages) and is labeled "free app" for apps that are free, or the cost of the app for paid apps. For instance, an app costing 99 cents will have a button called "$0.99 button". Once you activate the button, you will be asked for your password; this is the password you have associated with iTunes. Once you enter the password and tap "OK", the app will download. You can find its icon on your home screen and, while it downloads, you can touch this icon to hear status information about the download and install process. Double tapping the icon during this process will pause the download, and double tapping a paused download will restart it.
