Braille Institute launches ViA; an App to Help the vision-impaired find useful iOS apps
The Braille Institute of America has launched a new iOS app that aims to make it easier for the vision-impaired to find useful apps.
Visually Impaired Apps (ViA) claims to fill the need for "a one-stop shop of useful apps that help visually impaired people stay connected and engaged with the world".
ViA provides all of the available information about an app along with descriptive podcasts, video tutorials, and reviews written by users, caregivers, parents, and specialists. Users can search for apps by category or see what apps are being featured in the New and Recommended sections. Users of the app are encouraged to share their knowledge about the accessibility features in individual apps so that others can learn the best way to use them. Users can also recommend that ViA include other apps that may have value for the visually impaired community.

#1 interesting ap but...
This ap looks great but when I double tap an item on the first screen such as search or show aps, nothing happens. The concept is good, but the ap is just not working for me. I'm using the latest AIOS.
#2 I tested what happens
I tested how this works: When you type in search term, there is table of search result updating in realtime. If you press "Search" from keyboard it never disapears. You can still browse bottom list with VO but it's not very accessible. Even without VO I would say it's a bug.
Other browsing methods works just okay.
#3 Is it just me?
Is it just me or do these organisations that have lived on the VI comunity for years are worried about there place now mainstream technology offers so much.
I mean, this app seems like it is trying to do what this site does. Didn't they think about saving the development costs before they reinvented the wheel?
I would have thought there are lots of other projects that need funding.
