GPS Navigation 2 - skobbler (US/CAN)
Description of App
This is a free, open source turn by turn navigation app! It relies on map data from OpenStreetMap.org and Local Search powered by Google Maps. Unlike other so-called free navigation apps, this one is truly free. It is possible to set up an account and, from the Skobbler page, locate a destination or input an address and send it to the Skobbler app, pick it up and go! Skobbler will provide built-in spoken turn-by-turn directions, which are very good in quality and timing. You can input your home address, where there is a take me home button, select it and home you go. You can save addresses and it integrates with your contact list.

Accessibility Comments
AppleVis Editor Note: this app was submitted before Usability Ratings were introduced, so one has been chosen on the basis of the accessibility comments made by the original poster. If you have used this app, please post a comment to let us know if you agree with the Rating.
Original Comments: The Skobbler app is very accessible. Address searching, Local Searching, settings, save address, contact integration are all very accessible. With spoken turn-by-turn directions, it doesn't announce the street to turn on, but that info can be quickly checked towards the top of the screen with VoiceOver. I am working with developer to help make this app 100 percent accessible.

#1 Skobbler now paid
I just thought I should let everyone know that Skobbler now costs $.99 in the U.S. app store.
#2 Thanks
Thanks for the update.
I've updated the listing accordingly.
It's worth noting that this app has had a major revamp since this entry was submitted, so I don't know how accurate the accessibility comments now are. However, I would assume that it's likely to be the same as the UK version posted here.
